It's easy to just say your sorry when you offended someone or did someone wrong. It's much more difficult to ask for forgiveness though. Why is that? It's because asking for forgiveness requires a higher level of humility. It forces you to get real honest about your offense against someone else. You have to own that offense and call it out specifically. It's the same way with God. In fact, Scriptures tell us that "worldly sorrow" leads to death while "Godly sorrow" results in salvation (ref. 2 Cor. 7:10).
On today's show we discuss what it feels like to ask for forgiveness versus simply saying I'm sorry with people and with God. We also discuss how we can know that we are truly repenting of sin.
Ultimately, we know that through authentic repentance and faith in Christ alone that God provides everyone an unlimited supply of grace and mercy. We can enjoy the freedom from sin that only comes through Christ alone, allowing us to travel light on this side of eternity rather than carrying the burden of sins on our shoulders.
