Kailangan nating ipaglaban ang kinabukasan natin. A better world is possible. The Philippines we want – one, for example, where our healthcare system can heal the sick regardless of financial status, where all of us workers receive fair wages and ample protections, where our human rights are held sacred, where a transportation system lets us move around with dignity, and where our national wealth is safeguarded from corrupt officials and corporate greed – is achievable.

We need to fight for it. And to do so, we need to learn from the lessons of generations of activists who have fought for the freedoms we enjoy today.

In our wayfinding today, our North Star will be these curiosities:

1. Paano natin magagamit ang mga aral ng nakaraan sa kasalukuyang laban natin? How can we draw from the lessons of activism in the past decades in our current fights for justice?
2. How do we tell the story of activism and organizing in this era of historical revisionism and red-tagging?
3. Where can the next generation of activists draw hope to carry on the long, intergenerational fight for a better world? Saan huhugot ng pag-asa ang mga bagong aktibista?

Filipinos deserve better than spectacles on livestream that attempt to skew our sense of justice and fairness.

In this episode featuring Atty. Luke Espiritu and Rep. Renee Co, we’ll talk about political developments in the impeachment process of Vice President Sara Duterte, and how the public can serve as watchdogs of our democracy by engaging critically with the upcoming hearings.

For this episode featuring Dr. Leovino Garcia and Ian Kintanar, we talked about the value of philosophizing, especially in this age of so-called artificial intelligence, attacks on civic institutions, “post-truth,” and echo chambers constructed by billionaire-controlled algorithms.

In other words, we will be wondering about the nature and value of wondering itself.

The Commission on Higher Education’s proposed Reframed General Education curriculum, put forward in April 2026, halves the number of general education units at institutions of higher learning. The Reframed GE is meant to address the current demands of the job market and to help schools produce “employment-ready” graduates. However, the Reframed GE results in many existing subjects, particularly in the social sciences and humanities, being subsumed into other courses.

In our wayfinding today, our North Star will be these curiosities:

1. What does it mean to philosophize or “do philosophy,” especially in the Filipino context?
2. What is the enduring and radical value of holistic education in this present day and age?
3. How can the act of philosophizing help us become more human, animating us with hope and optimism for the future in this seemingly bleak present?

For our next episode of The Wonderer Podcast, we will be talking about the value of philosophizing, especially in this age of so-called artificial intelligence, attacks on civic institutions, “post-truth,” and echo chambers constructed by billionaire-controlled algorithms. This June, we will celebrate our nation’s Independence Day. For our second episode, we will talk about something that viscerally links us to our national identity and history daily – we will talk about food.

In our wayfinding today, our North Star will be these curiosities:

1) What do we mean by Filipino food, and who gets to define it?

2) How do our dishes in the present day connect us to our history? And–

3) How can interrogating the systems that turn ingredients grown on farms into prepared food on our tables make us confront the challenges of our time?

As someone who delights not only in tasting but also in learning about Filipino food, the connections of our food traditions with those around the world have me curious. As we can see from our guiding curiosities, when we ask questions about our sustenance, we see how it inevitably connects us to our history and our present.

Furthermore, I am also interested in how food intersects with my other interests, from climate and environment to human and land rights. After all, even just a cursory investigation of how our food is produced quickly leads to questions of power and justice. In other words, food is inherently political.

April is Earth Month. For our first episode, we will talk about climate anxiety, grief, and hope.

Did you know that there is a psychometric tool called the Climate Change Anxiety Scale, or perhaps, that Filipino youth are found to be most prone to climate anxiety by a study?

Today, we will discuss the latest findings from a Filipino-led study entitled Who Worries the Most? Socioeconomic Status, Housing Material, and Eco-Anxiety in a Developing and Climate-Vulnerable Country, which are consistent with the findings of an earlier study that those who experience the worst impacts of climate change are also the ones who have the highest levels of climate anxiety, and are in turn the ones who are most spurred to engage in actions to mitigate and adapt to the climate crisis.

As someone diagnosed with ASD, ADHD, and bipolar disorder, these findings made me curious.

In our wayfinding today, our North Star will be these curiosities.

• 1) How do we not feel completely hopeless in these times?
• 2) How is community mental health resilience a climate justice strategy?
• 3) How can we honor our climate anxieties while still tending to our hope and fight?
