There is a resurgence in ADHD diagnosis at the moment particularly amongst middle-aged women. The issue is there are so many more women out there who are displaying symptoms yet are worried they are going to be part of the ‘diagnosis fad’, so they bury their heads in the sand. The truth is that due to so much generalisation in the decades before ADHD was seen as the ‘naughty boy disorder’ and thousands of girls went through life undiagnosed because they weren’t showing symptoms such as impulsivity and disruptive behaviours. Steph was one of those women too, afraid to seek diagnosis because she didn’t want to be seen as attention seeking or a hypochondriac. But since getting a diagnosis and starting medication, her life has been completely turned on its’ head, in the best way. If you think you may have ADHD or are in the process of getting a diagnosis, make sure you listen to this episode, you definitely won’t feel alone after listening.
