Rev. Lee continues to explore Christ's teaching on prayer in the Lord's Prayer, through the lessons of our Heidelberg Catechism

This advent we will be preaching through the nine scripture texts from our traditional "Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols." During this series we will be exploring the Good News about Christmas, and seeing how Lessons and Carols help us grow in our faith as we celebrate the season.

We continue to look at the role of prayer in the Christian life through the lens of our Heidelberg Catechism's instruction, teaching the elements of faithful prayer from the prayer Jesus taught his disciples.

In this sermon Rev. Lee looks at how Christ's saving work on the cross is understood to be the work of the "Second Adam," who brings righteousness and life to those who receive his grace by faith. This text is crucial in our understanding of original sin as the imputation of Adam's guilt to the entire race: "one trespass led to condemnation for all men." It is also crucial for understanding justification by faith alone as an act where the righteousness and obedience of Christ is imputed to the sinner: "one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men."
