Finally getting around to the trailer for this pod!
Normal folks do this first...but here I am 45 episodes in getting my thoughts together.
To be fair and completely honest, when I started the work In I was not completely clear on the vision. I mean sure I had a general idea that I wanted to talk about the nervous system and the stress response and how to safely self regulate it naturally. But outside of that I was just trying to be open to letting this podcast become what it wanted to be.
And it has. So I feel like I’m finally ready to give you the official trailer for The Work IN and add some specificity and focus going forward. So here goes.
My name is Ericka Thomas and I’m a refugee from the body brand nation. I hold multiple certifications and specialties and spent almost half of my life in the fitness industry as a personal trainer, group fitness instructor and health coach.
The Work IN is a way for me to share some different perspectives on the wellness industry to help health conscious fit pros get more out of the formats they teach for themselves and the clients they serve by incorporating simple safe self regulation techniques straight out of the trauma informed playbook.
Health coaches, fitness instructors and personal trainers as well as other health conscious educators are in a unique position to be able to make a profound difference in our communities with just a simple change in understanding about the stress response.
In this podcast you’re going to hear a lot of topics related to dealing with stress. Some of them will be directed to the fit pros and the body brand nation, some will be business oriented with tips and coaching on the wellness industry itself and some will be building a deeper understanding of the nervous system with tools that you can apply immediately whether you’re listening for yourself or hoping to help others.
Either way let’s stay real, open. Curious and kind with each other. And for god sakes stop working out and start working in.

Today, I'd like to introduce you to Mira Katyal and I am so happy to have her on the program today because I have for a long time been very interested in Ayurveda and ayurvedic medicine. So let me tell you a little bit about Mira. She comes from a family of four doctors of Western medicine. However, it was only when she rediscovered the ancient wisdom of her heritage echoed, time and again through the wise and intuitive, did she start her own personal journey towards health and happiness.
After narrowly avoiding becoming a doctor as gently encouraged by her father, Mira went ahead and studied psychology. Then she obtained her MBA and worked for two decades in marketing and customer service, but the work never pulled on her heartstrings. After her own journey into alternative healing she found her calling and launched her own company, Mira Om offering education and consultation on healing through emotional distress lifestyle therapy, because the surest way to know you are in or out of balance is through your feelings. Mira says chronic agitated emotions are a sure sign of imbalance, chronic digestive ailments or another, Mira believes it's time for humanity to re embrace Mother Nature and her gentle but strict wisdom. By aligning mother nature's laws to regain mental and physical balance with the help of Ayurveda, yoga, and yoga therapy, Reiki, lifestyle and diet, we can have better sleep more peace of mind, better digestive power, reduced illness, and a greater ability to seize the moment within our circumstances.

She explains what a worth grab, and how to use EFT to heal from the physiological effects of stress injury like:
Eating disorders, anxiety, depression, panic attacks, sleep disorders, ptsd and trauma
We talk about becoming a conduit for energy of the nervous system, learning to love crying and getting to the root thoughts that trigger our emotional stress responses.
If you’re exploring natural ways to help you reconnect to safety within your own body I think you’ll find this conversation eye opening.
Let’s start our work IN with Melanie Yates and EFT tapping.

we are in the middle of our series on the freedom that health and well being can bring into our lives in really practical ways today is part two of my conversation with Paula Davis. And last time we spoke about the wellness fairy tale, her six foundational elements that go along with true well being. And some of those four minute practices that she uses to help women find freedom and effortlessness, and every day, health, and really really practical ways to do that.
Today we're going to shift our focus on that conversation and move a little deeper into one of those six foundational elements, and that is this idea of nourishment, through nutrition, and what is really interesting here and what we talk about and a little bit more detail, is how some of the things that Paula recommends can really open up a lot of freedom in how we think about food how we think about nourishment and some of the really practical things that we can do to make it easier to eat healthier for more freedom in our day, more free time, more freedom from food dogma, And it is a fascinating conversation she has so many great tips, great practical things that you can take away from today's episode and apply right now, today, things that are really really uncomplicated, so I'm super excited to bring you part two of my conversation with Paula Davis, enjoy.
