Omicron is the latest COVID-19 variant sparking a bit of a panic around the world which includes more travel restrictions

CNN reports over 69 countries have imposed travel restrictions Plus Japan and Israel have locked their borders down to internationals

A South African doctor named Angelique Coetzee told the BBC her patients with the variant have hadextremely mild symptoms They include tiredness body aches and a scratchy throat Her patients have not had a cough or a loss of taste or smell

Greece requiring churchgoers to have COVID vax or negative test

Greece is requiring churchgoers to show a certificate of vaccination a certificate of infection or a certificate of a negative coronavirus diagnostic test before attending services

However Reuters reports that only 1 out of 4 churches followed through on the check last Sunday and that wasonly with unfamiliar attendees

On November 7 Pastor Chandrakanth and his congregation were attacked by a mob of 40 radical Hindu nationalists as they gathered for worship in Indias Karnataka state reports International Christian Concern

Pastor Chandrakanth explained The congregation stood before me as a human fence Otherwise the Hindus would have killed me The radicals want to wipe out Christianity from this area and they think it is easy under the BJP government presently ruling the state

US State Dept errs in removing Nigeria from naughty list

To the astonishment of International Christian Concern the US Department of State left Nigeria off its list of designations for state and non-state religious freedom violators according to a press statement from Secretary of State Antony Blinken The announcement comes just one day after ICC named Nigeria as its worst persecuting country

The most severe category of designation called the Countries of Particular Concern list includes countries that have engaged in or tolerated systematic ongoing and egregious violations of religious freedom

This year Secretary Blinken announced that he would include Burma China Eritrea Iran North Korea Pakistan Russia Saudi Arabia Tajikistan and Turkmenistan on the Countries of Particular Concern list

Notably missing from this list is Nigeria
