A four-alarm fire which could be seen for miles erupted on San Franciscos iconic Fishermans Wharf early Saturday morning The blaze started at a warehouse that contained a large fish processing operation on Pier 45 reports CBS News

Mississippi church burned down over hope of in-person services

The burning of First Pentecostal Church in northern Mississippi is being investigated as arson because of a spray-painted message at the scene that seemed to criticize the churchs defiance of coronavirusrestrictions reports the New York Times

The church had sued the city of Holly Springs Mississippi which is about an hour southeast of Memphis arguing that its stay-at-home order had violated the churchs right to free speech and interfered with its members ability to worship

After firefighters put out the blaze early Wednesday the police found a message which said Bet you stay home now you hypokrits spray-painted on the ground near the churchs doors

A photograph of the graffiti also appears to show an atomic symbol with an A in the center which is sometimesused as a logo for atheist groups No suspects have been identified

Republican Governor Tate Reeves of Mississippi tweeted I am heartbroken and furious In Mississippi a church was just burned to the ground They had been trying to open services

Furthermore Governor Reeves asked this question

REEVES What is this pandemic doing to us We need prayer for this country

Government cannot shut down churches Government cannot go against our constitutional rights Freedom of religion is real and freedom of religion is important It is important to a free society

Citing a Scripture during a broadcast from the Governors mansion he made these remarks

REEVES I believe that more and more and more of our churches are going to reopen And I think its right that that is the case

But I want to remind everyone that we as Christians believe what is said in Ephesians the second chapter verses 19 and 20 So then you are no longer strangers and aliens but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets Christ Jesus Himself being the cornerstone

We as Christians believe it is Christ Jesus through which we get to heaven
