HSLDA European Court Was Wrong in German Homeschooling Case

The European Court of Human Rights ruled last Thursday against a Christian German homeschool family whose four children were forcibly removed by 33 police officers and seven youth welfare officers in August 2013

Incredibly Europes top human rights court ruled in the case ofWunderlich v Germanythat German authorities did not violate the rights of the Wunderlich family Homeschooling has beenoutlawed in Germany since 1918

Understandably the family wanted their four children whose ages range from 11 to 18 to be educated in an environment compatible with the parents religious convictions

The World View spoke with Mike Donnelly with the Home School Legal Defense Fund in Portugal over the weekend which has been defending the Wunderlichs for the past several years

DONNELLY The family had been living peacefully in Germany for the last few years Its not clear what the decision means for them Its possible that the German authorities could renew their pressure on the family They had left the family alone for the last several years We just dont know whats going to happen We are planning to appeal the case but its very disappointing what the European Court decided

The European Court of Human Rights ruled that there was no violation of Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights in Wunderlichs case

Article 8statesthat everyone has the right to respect for his private and family life his home and his correspondence and that there shall be no interference by a public authority with the exercise of this right except such as is in accordance with the law and is necessary in a democratic society in the interests of national security

DONNELLY The German Supreme Court denied their case wouldnt even hear the case And they we took it to the European Court of Human Rights complaining that Germany had violated their rights under the convention which basically guarantees that families have a right to privacy and family integrity We felt that Germany by taking the children by force just because the children had been homeschooled was a violation of their rights

The court has previously held on a number of occasions that Germanys actions to ban homeschooling are within what the court called the margin of appreciation for a country to be able to decide its own laws and to decide how to interpret and enforce its own laws We feel that this is an error that this is a very wrong decision We may be able to appeal the decision

LUNDBERG This is the most extreme sex ed bill I have ever seen It requires that homosexual practices will be taught and presented as normal and fully acceptable behavior It says that all contraceptive methods must be taught including all abortifacient methods It does say that you can talk about abstinence but you cannot teach abstinence as either the sole or the primary method of birth control This is a bill that does promote homosexual values but prohibits any religious values from being taught in our public schools here in Colorado

The son of an Islamic Sheikh in Egypt converted to Christianity after being dissatisfied with his fathers religion Mohamed was then rejected and persecuted by his Muslim family and community

250 Dutch Christians Sign Nashville Statement One Man One Woman Marriage

Two hundred and fifty Christians in the Netherlands including members of the government signed the Nashville Statement this month after it was translated into Dutch

The 2017 statement was previously signed by 22000 Christian leaders in the United States and defines marriage as between one man and one woman while condemning homosexuality and transgenderism

In a 9-minute speech President Donald Trump delivered his first Oval Office address last night

TRUMP My fellow Americans there is a growing humanitarian and security crisis at our southern border Every day Customs and Border Patrol agents encounter thousands of illegal immigrants trying to enter our country We are out of space to hold them and we have no way to promptly return them back home to their country

Medical Community Wrongly Affirms Transgenderism

After interviewing 17 families whose adolescent daughters identify as transgender Abigail Shrier wrote an op-ed column in the Wall Street Journal on Sunday entitled When Your Daughter Defies Biology

She believes that the medical community is far too unconditionally affirmative in its treatment of so-called rapid onset gender dysphoria Unlike traditional gender dysphoria which prompts children to conclude they were born the wrong sex Rapid Onset Gender Dysphoria is a social contagion that comes on suddenly in adolescence afflicting teens whod never exhibited any confusion about their sex
