A 68-year-old Christian woman named Nurul in Indonesia remains joyful despite her poverty and being abandoned by her Muslim children due to her faith in Jesus Christ reports Christian Aid Mission

Following the recent death of her husband her adult children refused to allow her to live with them So today Nurul is living at a Christian home for widows and orphans run by Indonesian missionaries

Amelia another widow who led her to Christ told Nurul I am very happy because Someone cares for me even though I have no kids to take care of me I am happy because I dont care about the body I just care that my soul will be saved

Last Friday North Korea handed over 55 boxes containing what are considered to be the remains of US soldiers killed in the Korean War

This follows an agreement between President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un during their summit in June

The US State Department sponsored its first conference toAdvance Religious Freedom Worldwide The conference included a release of adocument called The Potomac Declaration on Religious Rights

The statement argued for freedom for public discourse worshipprayer practice teaching and other activitiesNo mention was made in the document though concerning a right to evangelize or seek conversions

However the statement did include a defense of parental discipleship of their children It said Parents and legal guardians have the liberty to ensure the religious and moral education of their children in conformity with their own convictions

Also the State Department issued six statements of concern condemning blasphemy laws as well as Iran China and Myanmars discrimination against Christians Jews and other sects

Pastor Andrew Brunson is an American citizen whos lived in Turkey for more than two decades raising his family there and sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ faithfully in his ministry

In 2016 Pastor Brunson was arrested by Turkish authorities as part of a massive crackdown following a failed coup attempt Tens of thousands of journalists activists judges army officers teachers and others were arrested and remain imprisoned to this day

Pastor Brunson was imprisoned without being charged for more than a year And when the Turkish government finally indicted him they accused him allegedly of dividing and separating Turkey by simply spreading his Christian faith

Pastor Andrew Brunson is an innocent man There is no credible evidence against him Our entire administration has worked tirelessly to secure Pastor Brunsons release

Yesterday Turkey released Pastor Brunson from prison only to place him under house arrest This is a welcome first step but it is not good enough Applause To believers across America I say Pray for Pastor Brunson While he is out of jail he is still not free

And to President Erdogan and the Turkish government I have a message on behalf of the President of the United States of America Release Pastor Andrew Brunson now or be prepared to face the consequences Applause If Turkey does not take immediate action to free this innocent man of faith and send him home to America the United States will impose significant sanctions on Turkey until Pastor Andrew Brunson is free

American Pastor Imprisoned in China for Over a Year

Chinese officials have imprisoned North Carolina Pastor John Cao since March of last year for his work between Myanmar and China

The World Viewspoke to Gina Goh of International Christian Concern about Caos work

He has always had a heart for impoverished people so when he heard of the poverty and the community of Myanmar when he first visited the Kachin state eight years ago he felt called to help them Previously he also built schools in Yunnan in China

Goh said Pastor Cao spent years serving the poor before authorities arrested him

But at that the time the authorities were already keeping an eye on him So he went ahead and started to build schools bring Bibles bring books to the schools in Myanmar by crossing the border many times And last March unfortunately they caught him and accused him of illegal border crossings

In her testimony before the US State Departments first religious freedom summit this week Caos wife Jamie Powell said she hasnt seen her husband since his arrest and that he has lost over 50 pounds
