Remembering Our Founding Fathers Reverence for God

In a session of the Continental Congress the United States of America declared itself an independent nation on July 4th 1776

Just before this Congress called for a day of humiliation and fasting and prayer throughout the colonies The fathers of this nation called the people to mourn over their manifold sins and transgressions and by a sincere repentance and amendment of life appease Gods righteous displeasure and through the merits and mediation of Jesus Christ obtain His pardon and forgiveness

Not surprisingly the United States Congress has not followed suit with a proclamation this July 4th

Let us remember the message from Psalm 917 The wicked shall be turned into hell and all the nations that forget God

The World View asked Carol Tobias of National Right to Life if pro-life advocates are happy with the bill

There are one or two places where we are still trying to tweak it a little bit but overall this is a very strong pro-life bill Its a lot better than Obama Care And quite frankly if the Senate doesnt pass this bill we are stuck with Obama Care

Tobias also shared one big request that we could pray for as we watch the bill

I think we should be praying that the senators who are deliberating on this bill have wisdom to know what is best for this country including unborn children And I would ask also that we just pray that Gods will be done

On Tuesday Kentucky Gov Matt Bevin signed House Bill 128 into law The legislation which easily passed the Kentucky House and Senate allows the states public schools to teach courses on the Bible

Bevin signed the Biblical literacy bill during a public ceremony which was opened with prayer

Sweden Bans Christian Activities Even in Private Schools

A Christian preschool run by the Salvation Army in Sweden can no longer allow children to pray before meals speak about the Bible or say Amen reported the Swedish National Broadcaster STV

Supreme Court Lifts Injunction on Trumps Travel Ban

The US Supreme Court lifted a lower court injunction on President Trumps travel ban on six predominantly Muslim nations The plan of the Supremes is to take up consideration of the ban in the fall

Supreme Court Handles Multiple Cases Related to Religious Liberty

The Supreme Court also decided in favor of a Missouri church which was denied government subsidy for their playground The court ruled that Trinity Lutheran Church may apply for generally available public grant programs on an equal basis with other applicants

And Jack Phillips the Denver Christian baker who refused to support a wedding based on unnatural relations will have his day at the US Supreme Court

The World View spoke with Kristen Waggoner Senior Counsel for Alliance Defending Freedom who explained what happened to Jack five years ago

He was requested to do a custom cake for a same-sex ceremony and he told the couple that he was not able to do that He would sell them anything else in the store but that his religious convictions prevented him from promoting a same sex ceremony

Despite the fact that the homosexual couple easily obtained a wedding cake almost immediately from a competitor who had no objection they decided to sue Jack Phillips nonetheless in a case that has resulted in a 40 percent loss to Phillips family business

The Christian baker was cited by Colorados Civil Rights Commission on the basis of denying public accommodation to homosexuals

Waggoner pointed to the double standard of the commission

There was a similar case involving a cake baker who declined to bake a cake that had anti-same sex messages on it The Commission of Colorado said that that was fine it did not violate the law So Colorado is picking and choosing what viewpoint on marriage its going to punish and what viewpoint its going to protect And thats unconstitutional

The Supreme Court will most likely rule next year on this case pitting Christian liberties against homosexual license

In 1 Samuel 230 the LORD declares Those who honor Me I will honor and those who despise Me shall be lightly esteemed

The Supreme Court has also declared an Arkansas law to be unconstitutional which had required a court order for lesbians to record their names on a childs birth certificate

Black Lives Matter Protesters Interrupt Homosexual Pride Parade

Secular news outlets reported 200000 participants at the Seattle Homosexual Pride march over the weekend

However the festivities were interrupted by Black Lives Matter protests Evidently homosexuals of color felt they were not equally represented in the proceedings The demonstrators actually stopped the parade for 30 minutes

Public support for homosexuality in America stands at an all-time high of 62 up 7 in just two years and up 25 in ten years according to Pew Research No other social trend represents that much change in so short a time

A federal judge has temporarily blocked a group of 114 Iraqis living in Detroit from deportation The Guardian reports most of these Iraqis are Chaldean Christians but had been subject to deportation orders for pending criminal charges or overstaying visas

The US Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals has taken the side of religious liberty The judge panel okayed a Mississippi law protecting religious liberties for business owners and county clerks who do not wish to participate in faux weddings that endorse unnatural perversions

The World View spoke to Daniel Harris of International Christian Concern about religious liberty in Malaysia

In a lot of these countries there is this competing dynamic where they want to appear to have religious freedom and they enshrine that religious freedom in the Constitution But at the same time they say We are a Muslim nation and that gets implemented to varying degrees among countries

Harris also shared how Malaysian Christians are persecuted for their faith

One of the more famous cases this year a Malaysian pastor a pastor named Raymond Koh was abducted and hasnt been heard from since And he had received threats from doing ministry that helped Muslims

Please pray for these Malaysian Christians as they could risk being kidnapped and killed for sharing the love of God with others

Samoa Officially Declares Itself a Christian Nation

Early this month the Parliament of Samoa unanimously passed a constitutional amendment to become an openly Christian state according to The Pacific Islands Report The Explanatory Memorandum to the bill states The object of the bill is to insert in the Constitution that Samoa is a Christian nation to declare the dominance of Christianity in Samoa

Samoas attorney general said the amendment would enshrine Christianity from within the body of the Constitution which effectively provides a legal definition of the States religion The new wording of the Constitution would read Samoa is a Christian nation founded of God the Father the Son and the Holy Spirit
