John Zogby

The Zogby Report: Real and Unscripted (Episode 42) 10.23.2020

Listen Later

Last night was a much more subdued debate and the President was well-advised to talk more about his actions and accomplishments. Vice President Biden did what he needed to do, which is not to make a headline the next day, and maintain his lead in what is still a tight race, particularly in battleground states.
With two-weeks to go until Election Day and with millions of ballots already cast, where does Trump go from here? He does have a narrow path to victory and one under-reported factor that could hold the key is Libertarian candidate Jo Jorgensen.
We’ll also cover some of the findings from our Main St./K St. IntelligenSEER Report on the state of the American Dream, and whether or not our country needs a reboot.
Finally, don’t miss our live Town Hall happening Monday November 2nd at noon where we’ll be releasing our latest poll data and take your questions. You can sign up to join us here.

SHOW NOTES:
01:00 Debate Recap:
Last night was a much more subdued debate and the President was well-advised to talk more about issues and accomplishments. The moderator, Kristen Welker did a very good job keeping the debate under control, and Vice President Biden did what he needed to do, which is not to make a headline the next day.
We’re watching several polls now in addition to our own polling and we’re seeing them start to bunch together- again showing a closer race than before. The President is consolidating his base as well as evangelicals. Where he goes from there, we don’t know. But there is a narrow path to victory.
04:10 How Trump Can Win:
How does Trump win this? There IS a narrow path to victory and it runs through the battleground states of PA, MI, FL and WI. Biden has not locked any of them up yet. The way he wins is Jo Jorgensen – the Libertarian candidate who is polling at 3%. 1% of those votes could peel off and go to Trump at the last minute, and that could be enough.
12:00 The State of the American Dream:
In our latest Main St./K St. IntelligenSEER probes the state of the American Dream. When we arrive at the question fo whether our country needs a great reset or revisit the age old principles of the past? The vast majority of Republicans want to revisit age-old principles, and the vast majority of Democrats say we need a great reset. It comes down to independents. 48% align with revisiting age-old principles. That says to us, there are just enough Independents and Republicans who are saying we don’t want to go forward with a large shift in our society and that bodes well for Trump.
