  • The Bunker Podcast 195: Jackie House
in celebration of Pride month, we're happy to present this podcast from @jackie-house of @honeysoundsystem.
artist statement: "When the pressure is on sometimes you have to throw out the rulebook. A mixtape nerd since I first got my hands on a tape deck, I usually do a laborious amount of prep before I start making a mix. But, for some reason, I just plugged in and went with my gut on this one - a live session of what turned out to be 37 gems (including a french hardcore breaks tune by Alec Empire and a beautiful oddity to end it all by Dubtractor). I have always hoped I would get to create an entry for The Bunker podcast. It might be the first podcast I ever subscribed to! So, with that in mind I tried to stretch all the colors on my pallete on this mix in some respects to appease to the neo-retropolitan Bunker NY sound."

  • The Bunker on Red Bull Radio: Mike Servito 06/20/2019
@mikeservito is no stranger to the turntables and The Bunker NY community. His history in raves and DJing reaches back to the mid-’90s in Detroit, where he came up with the local scene. A move to New York led him to become a resident at The Bunker party in 2012, and around that time the wind picked up in Servito’s career, bringing him to clubs internationally and cementing him as an important figure in the house and techno world. His sets are technically skilled and notoriously bitchy. In honor of Pride Month, Servito will join us in the NYC studio to play a set — he’ll also discuss Pride and its meaning to him and the larger gay community, its importance, influence and reverberation through the world.

  • Gunnar Haslam "Seasick Acid" EP(The Bunker New York BK-038) - CLIPS
Seasick Acid is an aquatic addition to the @gunnar_haslam multiverse, a twisting realm of mirrored realities and fully realized continents with their own submarine logic systems. We asked Gunnar Haslam about the story behind this EP, his third release on The Bunker NY, confirming that he has not been recently seasick but did grow up by the ocean spending plenty of time on boats as a young man. Seasickness thus established as a part of Haslam’s personal history, he went on to explain “the best nights out hearing music are the rocky ones, not the smooth voyages” flashing to the experience of a very deep rave as a large ship with all hands on deck working to keep the whole thing afloat. All four tracks bring a woozy driving force to the dance floor that are sure to keep everyone bobbing along disorientedly.

  • Wata Igarashi "Kioku" EP (The Bunker New York BK-039) CLIPS
The Kioku EP is @Wata Igarashi’s third release on The Bunker New York, showcasing considerable emotional range that speaks to his long career as a sound designer. All four tracks feature a cinematic, expansive quality that make it easy to imagine how each could fit specific moments across the arc of a party. Different aspects of the music are carefully balanced and combined: seemingly simple patterns in the foreground are animated by precise intensities at play in the background. We encourage you to give this one a listen on a proper sound system or headphones to fully dive into the intricacies of Igarashi’s sound design. “Reflecting on his feelings about these tracks, Igarashi tells us that, “there are many times when you’re listening to powerful music and you are not really able to think but your body still remembers how to move and breathe”. Kioku means “memory” in Japanese and Igarashi goes on to explain that “all the fast and complex melody combinations (of the title track) make me imagine how our memory functions: connecting via synapse and nerves, going all over the place...the music comes from my experience and memory.” The complexity and beauty of our thoughts and bodies are mirrored in these fine productions that make up the Kioku EP.

  • The Bunker Podcast 194: Delta Funktionen
This edition of the podcast comes from old friend of The Bunker @deltafunktionen. we asked what he was up to these days and got some interesting news:
”The last few months I spent a lot of time in the studio with Samuel, known from his VC-118A and Mohlao monikers. In the last year we have been flying to each other cities a couple of times, having long and intense studio sessions and now we are in the final stage of finishing an album. We're also planning to take this music live for the next year(s), so loads of work are taking place. The last few months I have been doing a lot of research on the production side of things and somewhat re-educated myself and now all the gathered knowledge comes out. It's a great feeling to see a lot of pieces of the puzzle come together, so all I can say is that I can't wait to release this project and share it with the world! Nothing of that in this mix though, this mix focuses on dancefloor music I enjoy to play out nowadays."
