  • The Bunker on Red Bull Radio: Hot Mix 01/31/2019
Three crucial voices in house and techno pay homage to the past and present sound of New York City.
All masterful DJs in their own right, Hot Mix features the hyper-personalities of @mikeservito, Justin @cudmore, and @gunnar_haslam. With a nod to Chicago and radio quickfire mixing, the trio have played under this moniker for some time now, melding together their high-energy influences. On this episode, these cohorts of the Bunker NY step in to take us on a winding journey with one focus: New York tracks. Two of the three have early roots and cut their teeth in the Midwest, but New York is the trio’s longtime home — through their collective ears, we’ll hear the past and present musical output of the melting pot that is NYC. They’ll guide us through house and techno from the ’80s, ’90s, and early ’00s, all mixed up with the current and contemporary cornucopia of sounds bleeding out from the boroughs.

The Hypnotic Spa night has been going strong for the past two years, and in recent months has sunk into a monthly residency at a new home, NYC’s Nowadays. • The Bunker Podcast 184: A.Arias
@a_arias is one of New York's premier afterhours djs, spinning house, techno, and ambient. He's been digging since he was 17, and started attending The Bunker at age 19 (sorry, Pop). He's worked everywhere from Halcyon to Brooklyn Phono, and runs the Strobelight Network label. As a native New Yorker, he wanted to present a vision of NY House using only tracks from places outside of New York, in order to demonstrate how the sound that he grew up with has gone global.

  • The Bunker on Red Bull Radio: Rachel Noon 12/20/2018
The Unter affiliate and longtime NYC raver discusses returning to the DJ booth with renewed vigor, offering a taste of her techno sound.
Rachel Noon (@wasps-world) has been in and out of New York clubs since the ’90s. After taking a break from music to pursue (and ultimately shelve) a career in architecture, she’s back in the booth and couldn’t be happier about it. These days she’s deep into dark tripping techno, though club music isn’t her only specialty – for evidence, catch her at Unter Spinoff, the Brooklyn rave’s more experimentally minded event series. She also co-runs the Faire Mauvais Genre radio show for Paris internet radio project Station Station, and has gotten to work producing her own tracks. Ahead of her set at the Bunker’s New Years Eve party in Brooklyn, Rachel joins Bryan Kasenic in our NYC studio to discuss all of the above and play a pair of full-spectrum DJ sets.

  • The Bunker on Red Bull Radio: Shifted 11/29/2018
The techno adventurer joins Bryan Kasenic in Berlin to play from two sides of his musical universe.
Guy Brewer has been making innovative, dark-hewn techno as Shifted for the better part of the last decade. (Before that, he was part of the boundary-pushing drum & bass group Commix.) Though born in the UK, he makes music very much of a piece with the cavernous, postindustrial spaces where dance music thrives in Berlin – which is where Bunker founder Bryan Kasenic caught him to record this episode, during a visit to the Red Bull Music Academy in Berlin this past October. But like many techno fiends, Shifted draws on a wide range of influences to craft his club sound. Across two mixes recorded from our studios at the Funkhaus, he explores some of the non-techno music he’s interested in, then shows how they play into his DJ sets. He also sits down with Bryan for an interview covering his musical history and the state of the scene as he sees it.
