  • The Bunker on Red Bull Radio: Mister Saturday Night 03/15/2018
    Musical partners @mrjustincarter and @eamonharkin drop by to present their sound and discuss their scene-making new indoor space.
    As @mistersaturdaynight, Justin Carter and Eamon Harkin have become some of New York’s best-known hometown DJs — their eponymous parties, as well as the daytime Mister Sunday sessions, are wildly popular despite rarely having a headliner attached to the bill. For years their events roved from place to place – a Clinton Hill loft, a grassy patch on the banks of the Gowanus Canal, a yard between two warehouses in Sunset Park – but for the last two seasons they’ve had their own spot called Nowadays, a sprawling outdoor venue on the border of Bushwick in Brooklyn and Ridgewood, Queens. This winter, the long-anticipated indoor space at Nowadays opened its doors and immediately became one of New York’s key underground venues. With a full kitchen and bar, along with an enviable all-analog soundsystem, it’s meant to function both as a neighborhood commons and, after dark, as an intimate dancefloor (both for Carter and Harkin’s own parties and those thrown by some of their favorite local and international DJs). The Bunker has revived its all-night-set-focused Bunker LTD series for the venue, and to celebrate, Bryan Kasenic invited the Mister Saturday Night guys onto the radio show this week to play some records and discuss the epic journey that is opening a nightclub in New York City.

  • Marco Shuttle - "The Moon Chant" EP (The Bunker New York 035) CLIPS
    Available for pre-order on our bandcamp: https://thebunkerny.bandcamp.com/album/the-moon-chant-ep-the-bunker-new-york-035
    @marco_shuttle first caught our ear many years ago when we discovered his music the old fashioned way, picking up his Clone Store Only Series record at Halcyon in Brooklyn. This mysterious record led to becoming obsessed with his incredible, self-released podcasts that were floating around online at the time so we reached out to him and ended up working together to put his Fanfara EP out on our label in 2014, when he was almost unknown in North America. Since then, his music career has grown in leaps and bounds. He’s no longer at his day job in the fashion industry but tours and produces full-time, releasing albums on his own Eerie Records, Donato Dozzy and Neel’s Spazio Disponibile, as well as a string of killer EPs on several respected imprints. His productions and DJ skills have led to repeat bookings at Labyrinth Festival, Berghain, Concrete, Fabric, De School and just about everywhere else around the world where discerning heads congregate to hear great techno.
    When Marco was in Brooklyn to play an 8 hour set at The Bunker Limited earlier this year he played some new demos that stuck out as something exceptional, even by his very high standards, and we knew we had his next record on The Bunker New York ready to go. We’re psyched to present these intricate and detailed jams for your enjoyment in foggy dance floor corners. These tracks all have that unmistakable Marco Shuttle vibe with plenty of deliberate, slightly twisting melodies, shadowy disembodied echoing vocals that let your brain fill in the meaning, underpinned with punches of tautly layered rhythms.

  • The Bunker on Red Bull Radio: Episode 100 - Plaslaiko, Russell, Servito 11/15/2018
    @plaslaiko
    @mikeservito
    @mentalux
    Three Bunker residents – who also happen to be old friends and some of the planet’s best DJs – come together for the show’s 100th broadcast.
    The Bunker host Bryan Kasenic has spent 99 episodes going the distance to showcase many of the world’s great electronic explorers, including synth-heavy live performances from Mark Verbos and Romans, sets from legends like Voices from the Lake and Function, sessions with rising talents like Forest Drive West and Abby Echiverri and special episodes from Los Angeles, Mumbai, Berlin and (of course) Detroit. This week marks the Bunker’s 100th broadcast with us, and to help get to the heart of the matter, Bryan has invited Derek Plaslaiko, Patrick Russell and Mike Servito – Bunker residents, Detroiters, great friends and supremely talented DJs all – to help him celebrate. We’ve featured all of them on the program before, but we’ve never gotten them in the same room for what’s sure to be two hours of incredible musical selections and entertaining conversation.

  • The Bunker on Red Bull Radio: Anastasia Kristensen & Legowelt 11/01/2018
    @anastasiakristensen
    @legowelt-official
    A versatile electronic music giant and an emergent Danish techno explorer meet in our NYC studio to DJ and talk shop.
    The Bunker recently hosted veteran Dutch producer Legowelt and Danish techno linchpin Anastasia Kristensen as part of a wide-ranging party in Brooklyn, and both artists arrived in New York just in time to stop by our studios here and record a radio show with Bryan Kasenic. We’re thrilled they did – it’s a heavy one. Anastasia Kristensen takes over the first hour with a varied set of slower-tempo, melodically adventurous tunes unlike the techno you’d hear from her in a nightclub. There’s also an interview touching on her winding path toward electronic music and how major life events influenced her current outlook. Legowelt steps up for hour two, discussing his infamous Shadow Wolf cyberzine, the benefits of digital releasing and other topics before jumping into a DJ set that ties together everything from digi-dub to Italo disco.

  • The Bunker on Red Bull Radio: LDY OSC 10/18/2018
    @ldyosc
    The producer just released her debut EP through the Bunker New York — she drops by our NYC studio to play a vocal-inflected live set.
    LDY OSC is Alyssa Barrera Auvinen, a South Texas native who cut her electronic-music teeth playing gigs in Mexico and, after a move to NYC for a music and sound engineering degree, tinkering with kit synthesizers and modular systems. Following a string of collaborative projects, including the band Artefactos de Dolor with Todd Sines and Charles Noel, LDY OSC is now stepping out with her first solo EP, Magic² of 8, which lands on the Bunker New York this month. To ring in the occasion, Bryan Kasenic invited LDY OSC into our NYC studio for a live set with vocals, along with a DJ set and interview.

  • The Bunker on Red Bull Radio: Dr Rubinstein & Paolo Di Nola 10/4/2018
    @dr-rubinstein
    Live from RBMA Berlin, Bryan Kasenic invites two of the city’s cult selectors — one focused on disco and house, one on techno — for DJ sets.
    With the Red Bull Music Academy currently rolling in the city, we invited the Bunker’s Bryan Kasenic to our studios at the Funkhaus for a broadcast showcasing some Berlin favorites. Neither of his guests are from Berlin originally – in a scene this international, that’s hardly uncommon – but both have found distinct niches here. After becoming a foundational figure in Rome’s mid-’80s house and disco scene and living for a time in New York, Paolo di Nola moved to Berlin in 2007 — his disco-fueled sets for parties like Homopatik and Buttons have become low-key legendary. Also on the show is Dr. Rubinstein, an Israeli-born DJ whose deeply considered, techno- and electro-heavy sets have found a home at Berghain and, increasingly, all over the world. Dr. Rubinstein and Paolo di Nola are the first in a series of guests Bryan is getting some time with in Berlin, so keep an ear to the ground for more episodes recorded at the Funkhaus over the next few months.

  • The Bunker on Red Bull Radio: Jasmine Infiniti & Cali Rose 09/20/2018
    @jasmineinfiniti
    @nintendo-ts
    The Bay Area-based DJs and advocates for queer visibility in the dance music scene join Bryan Kasenic live from our NYC studio.
    Jasmine Infiniti hails from New York and is currently based there, with a brief but formative stint in Oakland, California. There, she and five collaborators – including this episode’s other guest, Cali Rose – staged New World Dysorder, a party that strives to “give voice to communities often underrepresented and overlooked, including but not limited to persons of trans* and/or gender-non-conforming experience, femme identified persons, women writ large and persons of color.” The party has gained a following that stretches from the Bay Area to New York and Berlin (not to mention hugely successful events in Montréal and Chicago). Following a huge set from the two of them at this summer’s Honcho Campout, Bryan was keen to have them on his radio show as soon as he could catch them in New York. Tune in for DJ sets and interviews with both artists.

  • The Bunker on Red Bull Radio: Sagotsky 09/06/2018
    @sagotsky
    The New York lifer, house aficionado and founder of Brooklyn’s beloved Sublimate party joins Bryan Kasenic in our NYC studio.
    Operating since 2012, Brooklyn’s Sublimate party has spent much of the 2010s putting together some of the city’s most adventurous house music lineups. Juan Atkins b2b Egyptian Lover at a Sunday afternoon barbecue? We’ll take it. This past summer, the party’s founder Sagotsky launched a new venture: Smangtasia, a kind of multi-day Sublimate held a few hours upstate from the outer-borough lofts where the party is usually staged. Featuring a fully North American lineup – stacked with more than a few Bunker residents and regulars – the small-scale festival amplified Sagotsky and Sublimate’s excellent curation. Following that killer weekend, Bryan Kasenic invited Sagotsky to spin some records from our New York studio and discuss his ever-expanding universe.

  • The Bunker on Red Bull Radio: Forest Drive West 08/30/2018
    @forest-drive-west
    The shadowy London producer joins Bryan Kasenic in our NYC studio to present his mutant, adventurous sound.
    You won’t find all that much information about Forest Drive West on the internet. We know that the producer is from London, and he’s found a home on adventurous, bass-inclined labels like Livity Sound and Hidden Hawaii over the last few years. But the music — a half-dozen mutant techno releases so far — speaks for itself. Forest Drive West joins Bryan Kasenic on this latest edition of the Bunker’s biweekly radio show from our New York studio, and we’re inclined not to blow up the producer’s spot too much. If you’re after heads-down, forward-thinking club music, tune in.

  • The Bunker on Red Bull Radio: rRoxymore 08/16/2018
    @rroxymore
    The adventurous Berlin-via-Paris selector joins Bryan Kasenic in our New York studio for an interview and playfully rhythmic DJ set.
    It’s no easy task describing the sound of rRoxymore’s DJ sets, live performances and productions – her intricate rhythms and playful use of melody point toward reference points well beyond straight house and techno, and her records for the UK label Don’t Be Afraid have been among the imprint’s most adventurous and difficult to pin down. All of this has made her a DJ to watch in her adopted home of Berlin, where she’s collaborated with the likes of Oni Ayhun, Planningtorock and the Room 4 Resistance collective for parties and productions. She joins Bryan Kasenic in our NYC studio this week to stretch out on the decks and discuss her backstory and current projects.
