  • The Bunker on RBMA Radio: Stallone The Reducer 10/06/2016
    @stallone-the-reducer
    Marking the release of Private Property, his new album for FIT Siegel’s Est. 83’, the Detroit native joins Bryan Kasenic live from NYC.
    The first album from Stallone the Reducer, Private Property, is simultaneously intricately wrought and rough around the edges. Soon to be released through FIT Siegel’s Est. 83’ imprint, the album betrays techno nous, punk instincts and a politically charged headspace, and over the course of 11 compositions, it invites you to dig as deep as you can manage into the murk. Sam Consiglio, the Detroit native behind Stallone the Reducer, is Bryan Kasenic’s guest this week – he’ll discuss his musical life, debut tracks off the new album, spin some records and premiere a never-before-heard live recording from a 2015 appearance at The Bunker.

  • The Bunker on RBMA Radio: Forma 9/29/2016
    @forma-1
    The Brooklyn-based three-piece shares influences, favorites and a few surprises to mark the release of their new album for Kranky, live from our NYC studios with Bryan Kasenic.
    Forma is a relatively rare beast: a band that makes electronic music. Currently the trio of George Bennett, John Also Bennett and Mark Dwinnell, the Brooklyn group released a pair of Spectrum Spools albums – 2011’s FORMA and 2012’s Off / On – overflowing with swirling synthesizers, dreamy textures and improvised grooves, placing them in the lineage of such Kosmische originators as Cluster and Klaus Schulze. Their next release, a 12” for The Bunker NY in 2014 called Cool Haptics, kept the synthscapes but added a hefty techno thump. Physicalist, their third full-length, this time for Chicago experimental music institution Kranky, expands further still, adding acoustic instruments to the mix for the first time. They’ll mark the release with in our NYC studio with Bryan Kasenic, playing music that inspires them and perhaps letting a few surprises loose.

  • The Bunker on RBMA Radio: Mike Simonetti 9/15/2016
    @mike-simonetti
    @2mrecords
    The New Jersey DJ and label head currently at the helm of 2MR joins Bryan Kasenic, live from our studio in New York.
    Mike Simonetti’s story can be told through record labels. He founded Troubleman Unlimited in Bayonne, New Jersey in 1993, an imprint that would grow into one of the classic indie imprints of the last few decades, releasing music from artists like Black Dice, Titus Andronicus and the Walkmen, among many others. In the late 2000s, Simonetti co-founded Italians Do It Better with Johnny Jewel, whose slightly askew take on shimmery disco was simultaneously a throwback to Italian nightclubs circa 1983 and a wholly original invention. He’s since left Italians Do It Better entirely in Jewel’s hands and thrown his weight behind 2MR, co-run with Adam Gerrard and Mike Sniper of Brooklyn’s Captured Tracks. The label, founded in 2015, focuses on electronic music in a broad sense, from the grimy techno of DUST to Simonetti’s own synth pop excursions with Elizabeth Wight as Pale Blue. Also a fine DJ, Simonetti will cross the Hudson to play a set in our NYC studio and discuss his decades-long career in music with Bryan Kasenic.

  • The Bunker on RBMA Radio: Soramimi & Cory James 9/01/2016
    @soramimi
    @coryjames
    Cory James and Soramimi, founders of the experimentally minded New York label, join Bryan Kasenic live in our studio.
    Having released just two records over the course of two years, New York’s Dusk Notes label isn’t one of techno’s most prolific imprints, but the quality of their output speaks volumes. Founded by Cory James and Soramimi in 2014 “to cater to both the dancefloor and the introspective listener,” as they put it, Dusk Notes is home to techno as immersive as ambient, and ambient that throbs like techno – with a range of evolving, intricate and alluringly synthetic sounds in between. The label heads will join the Bunker’s Bryan Kasenic live in our NYC studio to dive deeper into the sound they’re carving out for themselves.

  • The Bunker on RBMA Radio: Atom™ & Tobias 8/25/2016
    @atom_tm
    @tobias-freund
    Techno über-veterans Tobias Freund and Uwe Schmidt join Bryan Kasenic in New York to dig into their extensive discographies.
    Tobias Freund and Uwe Schmidt are two names techno fans come across often. And while each has worked extensively on his own – Freund has mixed records for artists ranging from Milli Vanilli to Efdemin and released propulsive techno under the name tobias. since his classic Street Knowledge EP in 2006, while Schmidt has put out more albums under more pseudonyms than we’re prepared to tally – their decades-spanning musical partnership has resulted in some of the most arresting music either has had a hand in. The pair met in Frankfurt around 1990 and were part of a circle that included Ricardo Villalobos, Dandy Jack and Luciano. They began prolifically collaborating and performing live, first under their aliases Atom Heart and Pink Elln, and later, after consolidating their solo music-making under one name each, as Atom™ and Tobias. They regularly whip up luxuriously muscular live sets at such techno institutions as Berghain in Berlin, the Labyrinth in Japan and the Bunker in New York, which recently brought them through the city. During their stay, Bunker boss Bryan Kasenic brought them through the studio to discuss both their solo and collaborative work, and play an exclusive snippet of their most recent live set for the party.

  • The Bunker on RBMA Radio: Grant Aaron 8/11/2016
    @mysteriesofthedeep
    Grant Aaron, curator of the acclaimed experimental electronic podcast and event series, joins Bryan Kasenic live from our NYC studio.
    DJs tend to focus their attention on dancefloors, but what happens when they turn inward, playing around with textures and forms that wouldn’t work in any normal club context? Mysteries of the Deep has spent the last few years providing an answer, explicated through an excellent podcast and a series of mind-expanding New York-based events. Both have become regular outlets for Bunker residents looking to flex their experimental side – Patrick Russell, Eric Cloutier and Clay Wilson have all contributed mixes, joining luminaries like Aleksi Perälä, Alessandro Cortini, Chris SSG and Neel in creating one of the best collections of outré experimental sounds you’ll find online. On this edition of Bryan Kasenic’s biweekly broadcast, Mysteries of the Deep curator Grant Aaron (AKA ISO) will stop by to discuss the project and preview forthcoming releases from his band Birds of Prey.
