  • The Bunker Podcast 174: Paul Fleetwood
Tempered by years of sweat in the US rave and club circuit, Paul Fleetwood (@fleet412) has steadily built a reputation as a DJ who explores the shuffling grooves of techno, electro, acid and beyond.
He currently resides in Denver but is originally from Pittsburgh, where he is a co-founder and resident of world renowned weekly party Hot Mass (@hot-mass).
As a DJ he connects the dots between deep, propulsive techno, trippy experimental rhythms and intergalactic synth led electro jams. His approach to selecting and mixing has featured in online mixes for Buttons, Silent Season, Mysteries of the Deep, Doc Sleep's Jacktone Radio, and now The Bunker New York.
Fleetwood has played to audiences across the Midwest predominantly at DIY parties but also in clubs such as Chicago's Smartbar, Detroit's Tangent Gallery, Washington DC's Flash, and further afield at Berlin's Griessmuehle and ://about blank. Wherever he plays, he utilizes his lifelong musical curatorial ear and penchant for fanatical record digging to bring fervor to dancefloors across the world.

  • The Bunker Podcast 173: Abby Echiverri
Abby @Echiverri has extensive history as a musician, sound engineer, DJ and VJ. Her current trajectory started early in childhood when she was classically trained in violin, flute, piano and vocals, cementing music as a part of her daily life. In high school she picked up turntables and began collecting records, eventually moving to NYC to study recording engineering and perform in post-punk bands, and became a regular at Wierd and The Bunker at a very young age. Since then, Echiverri has devoted her professional hours to engineering, maintaining, and manufacturing audio equipment for studios and clubs around the world. Her debut record 'Ab Initio' is currently out on The Bunker New York's label and can be purchased on our bandcamp. This set features a lot of flanged synths, analog drums, and processed samples. It was composed and rehearsed over a few days and then recorded in one take at her home in Queens.

  • The Bunker Podcast 172: Danny Daze
@DannyDaze is one of our favorite DJs and is the founder of the always-excellent Omnidisc label. He's constantly surprising us with deep cuts combined in unique ways that really get a dance floor moving. Danny grew up steeped in Miami’s B-boy culture, classic electro & Miami bass and developed a love for the experimental Dutch electro & Detroit Techno scenes of the 90’s, labels like Schematic in Miami, Interdimensional Transmissions from Detroit & Viewlexx out of The Hague. We're so excited that he took some time out from his crazy non-stop schedule of gigs to create this podcast to give us a taste of what to expect when he plays The Bunker Pride this coming Friday, June 29th at Elsewhere in Brooklyn. • Abby Echiverri - Nadezhda
From the very first track, it’s clear that Abby Echiverri’s debut, the “Ab Initio” EP is something different and rare: a polished and fresh interpretation of electronic music that incorporates classic electro squelches with intricate broken beats and expansive synthesizer zone-outs. Although this is her first EP, Abby has extensive history as a musician, sound engineer, DJ and VJ.
This record’s name “Ab Initio” means “from the beginning” or “from first principles”, invoking a propulsive leap into the future and also perhaps including an element of the eponymous. When we asked her to tell us more about the process of creating these hardware-based jams, Abby explained: “It all stems from my own experiences on the dancefloor and wanting to recreate that for other people. I want to make music that rewires the brain: music that is challenging, yet groovy... repetitive, yet evolving. An aural psychedelic. It's a lofty goal - I'm still working on it.” If Ab Initio is one of her first steps towards that goal then we can’t wait to see what happens next.

Pure Immanence will perform at The Bunker Pride on June 29 at Elsewhere in a chill-out room collaboration with residents from Hypnotic Spa.

  • The Bunker Podcast 170: Auspex
A lifelong musician and composer, NYC-based @djauspex deals in dark, metallic sounds and dance floors driven to bedlam. • Clay Wilson - "Osho" EP (The Bunker New York 030) CLIPS
Body music, mind music, ass-shaking and head-boggling, Clay Wilson’s third release on The Bunker New York is a dance EP that manages to be both restrained and cacophonous, speaking to his classical training as well as his years as a DJ, producer and sound tech. Since we first met Clay as a new-to-New York City Bunker party regular back in the Public Assembly days, through releasing his earlier music and having him join us at numerous label showcases around the world, we’ve come to know him as an exceptional producer and DJ, an essential part of The Bunker family and a regular fixture in our lineups. This new release is an expression of the deep relationship we’ve all forged through years of raving together - of freaking out to an unreleased track on the dance floor only to find out your friend made it and then getting a crew together to remix it and put it out!
We heard the original of Osho and decided to give it the remix treatment in order to bring out the various dimensions of the track that were percolating in the background. While the original version is subtly shifting with a cascade of rhythm at the forefront, the Jasen Loveland remix acidifies the track by about 420% and in the process adds a punch of darkness that takes the track solidly into late night territory. Derek Plaslaiko’s “oogly boogly” remix delivers on the promise of both oogling AND boogling, and if you can figure out what that means please tell us, but it likely refers to the jangly swing that loosens up Clay’s tight production to great effect. rrao’s contribution to the mix, following up her debut production on the 15 Years of The Bunker compilation in January, is a subtle and weird version with a murmuring vocal amping up the surreal abstraction, a real departure from the original that nonetheless preserves its character.
