  • The Bunker Podcast 161: Chhabb
Born and raised in Mumbai, Chhabb (@imaginary-friend-4) represents an early generation of DJ's in India, spending countless hours searching for music that has emotion and allows travel into unknown dimensions. He has been a big contributor to the experimental electronic movement in India, producing events and playing out nearly every weekend. We first met Chhabb during our Indian tour last year and were deeply impressed by his DJ skills, so we asked him to create a podcast to help celebrate our return to India on January 19th and 20th, 2018 for The Bunker NY 15 Year Anniversary parties in Mumbai and Bangalore and he delivered this beauty!

  • The Bunker Podcast 159: Karl & Ken Meier
Brothers @Karlpmeier and @ken-meier grew up in the 90s in Chicago where they experienced the storied peak of midwest rave culture. This collaborative mix, recorded live for a radio broadcast, highlights their skill as DJs in this tradition. Karl has long been working on the fringes of electronic music and each record he makes is well worth owning. His first project, "The Great Traitor" on Remnant, only hinted at what was to come—his current project, Talker (with Jon Krohn), has several records on seminal UK imprint Downwards, and just last week the duo released a remix EP on their new label Standards & Practices, featuring mixes from Surgeon, Regis, and Broken English Club.

  • Ninos Du Brasil - Animais Soar O Alarme (Patrick Russell Remix)- from The Bunker New York BK-027
@Ninos-du-Brasil is Nico Vascellari and Nicolò Fortuni. Friends for over twenty years, the pair spent an insane amount of time listening to music together in the grey and solitary Italian countryside before starting to make their own music in 1999 as a project called With Love. Ninos du Brasil was formed in 2012 and has released records on Tannen Records, DFA and most recently a full-length album, entitled ‘Vida Eterna’ on Hospital Productions and La Tempesta International, the sessions for which also produced the ‘Animais Soar O Alarme’ 12” for The Bunker New York. From the earliest days of the project, Ninos Du Brasil embraced the wild and primordial, a spirit kept alive during unhinged live performances that utilize unconventional percussion instruments in addition to electronic elements. Nico and Nicolò shared with us their conviction that out of slight misunderstandings and second-hand knowledge comes great moments of inspiration: [We wish] “to create something unique from a wrong vision. Our name is misspelled and suggests this idea that in being wrong lies the potential for unicity.”
Invoking the power of a stampeding herd of mythical beasts, the ‘Animais Soar O Alarme’ 12” is a carnivalesque dancefloor exploration that highlights the unbridled percussive sound for which Ninos du Brasil have become known. The A side presents the shadowy duo’s original track - a rollicking and propulsive explosion of beats unified by steady stomping bellows of unknown origin. The B side sees The Bunker resident DJ Patrick Russell (@mentalux) providing the first ever remix of a Ninos du Brasil track, imbued with the precision, discipline and restraint for which he has become known, making Animais Soar O Alarme seem all the wilder for his skillful steadying hand.

  • The Bunker Podcast 157: David Siska
There are a select few DJs who can go deep while spanning genres and eras - still keeping the flow and the floor intact. It's rare that David Siska ( @david-siska ) doesn't play a set that is a tribute to his time deeply involved in Chicago's sweat-drenched loft parties and burgeoning techno club scene, and his devotion to the sounds of Detroit and its most diverse DJs. He co-hosts the Sonic Sunset radio show turned mixshow - continuing its long-standing tradition of taking in a wide swath of dance music and through a scarcely definable but undeniable common thread, making it mean something as a unified whole. He's a resident DJ with San Francisco's renowned As You Like It crew as well as the music community-centric Run The Length Of Your Wildness.

He recorded this in one take at The Bunker HQ last week on a standard set up of 2xCDJ-2000, 2 Technics 1200 turntables, and a Rane MP2015 mixer.
