We read V.E. Schwab's latest novel, "The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue," and enjoyed how Schwab weaved together various genres into a compelling and propulsive story. We discuss the story, favorite characters, and debate whether we'd sell our soul to the devil. Enjoy!

We start this week with a review of Titanic, naming John Mayer's new album, and our week in reading. Then we get into Matt's brain and discuss a fun prompt*.

*In the 1998 movie Shakespeare in Love, Shakespeare is portrayed in a romantic affair while writing Romeo and Juliet, so we got to thinking what other famous authors lives could be made into an entertaining movie and show the author's life influencing their work. ( Melville's life on a whaling ship sounds like a great movie!!) Enjoy!

Books mentioned:

Fingersmith by Sarah Waters

The Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie

Nuclear Folly by Serhii Plokhy

For our latest seasonal book, we read the Sci-Fi classic, Dune. We have to admit there is a lot too unpack and we occasionally felt like dummies with regard to the complexities of the story. So be warned, we are NOT experts! But we enjoyed the book none the less and discuss character arcs, worms, and movie adaptations. Enjoy!

We are both huge fans of Anthony Bourdain's tv work, but neither of us had read his classic chef's tale, Kitchen Confidential. Not any more. We read Kitchen Confidential, and both loved how he described the world of a chef. Listen as we detail why Bourdain was such a great writer and storyteller. Enjoy!
