Odds and Ends: Due to some technical difficulties, we're bringing an older episode back to life! We cover a lot of ground in our early days, as we ping pong around from the upcoming (and now released) Spider-Man film, Godzilla, and we finally get the introduction to Nick's love of the X-Files. Also we talk about our own short films (what a surprise) and write a few early aughts parody films along the way. 

Feature Film: Finally released from the vault, this week we discuss House of Flying Daggers, directed by Zhang Yimou! I honestly don't remember much about the movie, other than its pretty, there's some bean flicking, and the seasons change fast enough to give you whiplash. Also it's pretty horny. But don't take my word for it, listen to the episode!

Feature Film(s): Our follow-up to the Matrix trilogy is here! We're capping our coverage of the saga (so far) with a double feature on The Animatrix and The Matrix Resurrections. One, in one humble co-host's opinion, is essential Matrix viewing, while the other, not so much. Both movies continue and expand on the Matrix universe and lore, to varying degrees of success.

Odds and Ends: You hear that? Is that the sound of... a classic episode? Oh, wait, it's just T.J.'s dogs? This week, we're pulling one from the Duds vault, before we were a podcast, merely a lowly Twitch stream. But now it IS a podcast, in all it's awkward, early Duds days glory. Cheer at the story of T.J. talking about the Eric Andre vehicle "Bad Trip"! Gasp at the origins of Nick's X-Files obsession! Thrill in the sheer annoyance of T.J.'s dogs never shutting the fuck up! 

Feature Film: Dipping our toes into Beatlemania with the band's debut movie, "A Hard Day's Night." A wacky, almost nonsensical comedy spoof slash concert movie, it follows the four lads from Liverpool as they... pretty much just get ready for a concert. That's about it. Ringo is sad at one point and George eats shit, it's pretty well-rounded.

Feature Film: We talk the other Jack Frost movie that shares quite a few more similarities with the Michael Keaton version than you'd expect. A guy turns into a snowman again, but this time, he's got angry eyebrows. Swap Charlie Boy for Honey Boy and a Cool Dad for a... wait, did this one even have a protagonist?

Odds and Ends: We're feeling the holiday spirit this week, because T.J. forced everyone to do a secret Santa gift exchange, and an item is added to the display; Daegan rewatched a childhood favorite and didn't like the experience; we dive in to the lost art of tv to tape recording, and various other VHS tales from our youths

Feature Film: We talk the very logical Jack Frost from 1998, NOT the equally logical Jack Frost from 1997. In it, Robert Baratheon basically kills Michael Keaton so he can slip in on John Travolta's wife and not care about Charlie Boy. Michael Keaton foils his plans by returning as a snowman so he can teach his son how to snowboard and J-Shot Jack Cheese his way to being kind of okay at hockey, before fucking back off to hell.

Odds and Ends: the Home Alone house is on Airbnb and is killing people; Will Smith has a show, just like every celebrity nowadays who has their own podcast, like losers; The 13th Warrior shares some similarities with our feature film; T.J. loves Arcane, but wants to make it clear he thinks League of Legends is just okay; in the break, we talk about our coincidental connection to special guest Jake, and watch a few of his short films, including Uncle Samsonite  

Feature Film: Special guest Jake Bowen brought in one of his key childhood movies, the 1995 adaptation of Mortal Kombat. Based on the video game series of the same name, it follows human combatants in a fighting tournament to save the world, and boy howdy does it come through with the fights. Why does Goro look like that, and can Moose make a case for why water isn't necessarily the "element which brings life?" Well... not really.

Feature Film: We talk our first animated feature with the much beloved "Princess Mononoke," from director Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli. A historic fantasy epic of man vs. nature with the valiant Ashitaka (or Ashitaco or whatever) caught in the middle. Spirits and gods battle, love is founded, and many, many limbs are severed.

Odds and Ends: T.J. continues his horror homework and just finished the rest of the Nightmare on Elm Street series (as well as the documentaries "Never Sleep Again" and "Scream, Queen!"), then runs down some bullet points on the movies and just what makes them so special

Feature Film: To cap off our month of terror, we talk the most horrific movie we've covered so far - "Bedeviled," a not-played out story of kids and their cell phones and how that's bad, definitely not written by people too old and unhip to write a story about teenagers. Kids get killed off by an evil app, what else do I need to say? Oh, Saxon Sharbino.

Odds and Ends: A serious topic as we discuss the recent tragedy on the set of "Rust;" I'm glad that's our only intro topic on this one, because I feel weird trying to add in jokes here in the description next to that story

Feature Film: "Dream Warriors" writer/director team Chuck Russell and Frank Darabont return with their remake of "The Blob," the 80's creature feature remake that's NOT "The Thing" or "The Fly," but definitely follows a similar naming and remaking convention. Listen as we gush over the visual effects, lovingly consume the campy dialogue and characters, and devour the concept of the "big jump" Kevin Dillon makes in the movie. I was going for some blob-like adverbs there, but I think I lost steam near the end. Or... lost... gelatinous mass or something. I stopped moving because I froze up. Sure.
