  • TheSquare Ep #51 · Healthcare Design and Burnout

Magnified by the pandemic crisis, exhaustion and burnout among healthcare providers signaled the long-awaited need for positive change. With up to 50% of healthcare providers considering leaving the profession due to working conditions, designing efficient and functional healthcare facilities is crucial to the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of staff, as well as patients. Gerard Gulpeo and Nikki Cirrincione of the Healthcare Studio in LA discuss designing spaces to improve the future of the healthcare workplace. As a former trauma nurse, Nikki explains how stress, long work hours without breaks, and inefficiencies in healthcare facility design take a toll on healthcare providers. Nurses’ voices must be heard in creating spaces that provide safety, reduce stress, and support staff with better amenities, collaborative workspaces, technology, wellness rooms, and outdoor spaces for recharging in nature.

  • TheSquare Ep #47 · Chuck Armstrong Profile

In this episode of TheSquare, we sit down with Corgan’s Design Director, Chuck Armstrong, to explore how his approach to design has evolved over four decades and how his contributions have informed the firm’s most influential projects. A Corganite for 25 years, as a child Chuck was fascinated by the ever-changing Dallas skyline and knew his calling was to design buildings. “The universal issues of design transcend all sectors,” he says, "it isn’t about the object; it isn’t about its place in history; it’s about the experience it imparts—and now more than ever, the power of place and making it a memorable place is most important.” Chuck derives inspiration from getting out of fixed, rigid settings and engaging in everything from gardening and painting to visiting museums and building an extensive travel portfolio. While he still values drawing by hand on paper, he explains how computers have changed the profession immensely. Listen to this week’s episode and learn how technology, creativity, and clarity of purpose drive his design process. #architecture #lovefield #corgan VISIT: https://www.Corgan.com/ Also connect with us on: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/CorganInc/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/CorganInc/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/CorganInc LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/corgan Video Produced by: Corgan Have Questions? • TheSquare Ep #45 · Fantasy vs. Reality - Mixed-use Development

This week on TheSquare, we discuss multifamily and mixed-use developments. James Adams, Vice President, and Stephen Lohr, Vice President and Director of Multifamily, deep dive on trends for how people are choosing to live, work and play. They explore how Corgan is reigniting multi-family with the adaptive use of older structures, office buildings, mixed-use developments, and large master-planned communities in the exciting evolution of multifamily housing. From wrap and podium apartments to urban townhouses and garden-style homes, James and Stephen speak about the design and architecture that influence communities and lifestyle choices. It’s an exciting time for multi-use housing as people migrate to urban areas that offer amenities and convenience as well as a sense of connection. Their advice: steward resources well. Pick your moments, pick your spaces, and spend extra care to get the proportion, rhythms, and finishes right so they will endure. First and foremost, it’s about designing spaces where everyone can have a sense of pride ― the people developing the space, the people who live there, and the communities they serve.
