They Call Me Coach

Today is a special treat because we get a two for one. Coaches Logan and Lexi Gragg Head Coaches of the Locust Grove Pirates and Lady Pirates join the podcast to talk about how they use their platform as coaches and the impacts that they’re able to have each day with their students and teams.

Coach Miller after taking a 3 year break will be back on the sidelines, but this time it will not be in the maroon and gold. Coach Miller will be coaching at Am-Po next season and we talk about what that transition has been like and how that process played out. Coach Miller also talked about what he believes makes up a team and how the coach fits into that dynamic as well.

Coach Edmonson didn’t learn how to coach basketball 3 years ago after winning a state title as a head coach. Coach Edmonson has had a tremendous amount of success at every stop he’s made, but for many years now he’s been at Dale which has been a pillar of success in their class. Coach Edmonson talks us through the recent success and what he thinks is so unique about this group of kids that he has been coaching the last few years.

Today’s episode will be different as we try and expand the podcast to being something more than just coaches stories. We also want to show our personalities and allow the audience to learn about us in that way too. So, who better to do a Guinea pig episode with than my first Guinea pig, Alec Bryen. Coach Clarke is one of the winningest coaches in Oklahoma Basketball history. Listen as he talks us through the journey of all of the stops that Coach Clarke made along his journey and how he came to call Washington his home for the last 20+ years. Coach Clarke won over 900 games, coached in 25 state tournaments, coached 31 All-State players, member of both the OGBCA and OCA hall of fames, but above all else his priorities never wavered. Love kids while showing them Christ and then help them grow as a player along the way. Coach Clarke tells great stories along the way and shares about his love for Christ and his family all throughout.

Today’s guest is a softball coach in the fall and the spring and is a basketball official in the winter months. Find out the balance of being a head coach, husband, father, and official. Coach Swboni was kind enough to sit down with us and give up some of his valuable time to talk through all of the things he does and share how he leads his program.

Coach Winfield has been a frequent flyer to the state tournament since arriving at Adair 20 years ago. Coach Winfield talks about how that is possible at the same school and the kind of work that goes into building and continuing that kind of tradition at the same school.

Today’s guest is Coach Chris Brown of the Howe Lady Lions. Coach Brown is one of those coaches that any coach could talk to and soak up wisdom from the entire conversation. Coach Brown will talk about his upbringing, speak of his time in the military, and touch on how a stint of being a college player led him into coaching.
