In these uncertain times, we've decided to seek out our roots and find familiar comforts. Of course, that means watching a forgotten sequel in a much-beloved horror movie franchise. It's never been a guarantee for the movie to blow us away, but there's always a chance, and with anxiety swirling around us now, it's a chance we wanted to take. It paid off. Without further ado, here's our take on another unsung gem, with some phenomenal performances and mind-blowing effects. It's our honour to present POLTERGEIST III.

In the midst of this awful quarantine we figured we'd take a look at a slam dunk for this show: Nicolas Cage in THE WICKER MAN. However, it seems to us like the film's reputation can be a bit much at times, and a lot of the thematic elements are... dubious. What eventually forms is a loving serenade to an underappreciated actor unfairly meme'd out of being taken seriously by most. Here's to Nicolas Cage, in the era of pandemic, perhaps when we need him most.

Looks like everything is still terrible, so we thought we'd try to offset that terribleness with a movie so pleasant and cute and sugary sweet that our mood would have to improve -- and we brought returning guest Laura along for the ride. We finally see the next installment of Lara Jean and Peter's story that... well I'm not sure we were too worried about but it's bright and colourful and -- hopefully -- the antidote to all our woes. One of us thinks so, anyway.

In need of a new tactic to avoid the Animal Gods, we decided to try and class the joint up a bit with the return of friend of the show Mitch to discuss FRENCH CONNECTION II, John Frankenheimer's seemingly immediately forgotten sequel to the grimy classic. Friedkin's film has a massive reputation to uphold -- iconic chases, cutting characters, thoughtful insight into the duality of law enforcement -- and with Mitch's help, we try to find out if "what if Popeye but in Marseilles" is up to the challenge.

We're still on the run from our Animal Month antagonists Dunston and the Electricity Wizard Clancy Brown. Despite our predicament, Liam phoned in from a safe location to chat about TOY STORY 4, a movie we had basically completely forgotten about that is stuffed top to bottom with people having various degrees of an existential crisis. As we gradually realize we're not nearly as in-touch with Disney/Pixar films as we thought, TMAO has an existential crisis itself.

The Animal Gods were displeased that we attempted to end Animal Month, and, unable to record a new episode, we must resort to The Vault -- to one of our very first recordings: ROBOCOP 3. While we attempt to appease Dunston &the Electricity Wizard Clancy Brown, hear an extended analysis of both the squandered potential of ROBOCOP 3 and whatever the hell the movie RIPD is. As a special bonus, Corey talks about split diopter shots at length without knowing what a split diopter is! (He did eventually learn.) Also, Priest Cop, Ghost Cop, Vampire Cop. It's a weird one, but that's what happens when you enter The Vault.

Having experienced some truly monumental disappointments (BLAIR WITCH 2, OLDBOY [2013]), we were convinced we'd seen the lowest lows. After discovering JAWS: THE REVENGE (1987), how could we be anything but excited: a vengeful, bloodlusting shark follows a family thousands of miles to the Bahamas to try to kill them, while potentially being controlled by some kind of evil magic. If only we knew how terribly you can mess that up...
