We’re back with the second creature in our month of Canadian mythology, and this time, we’re heading into the woods to talk about one of the darkest legends out there: the Wendigo. Rooted in the traditions of several Algonquian-speaking Indigenous peoples, the Wendigo is associated with hunger, greed, and the terrifying consequences of losing your humanity. But there’s more to this legend than the horror stories you might have heard. We’re digging into its cultural roots, how the stories have been told over generations, and how this chilling figure became such a recognizable name in modern horror. So, maybe don’t wander too far into the woods for this one.
