I was writing deep into the night a few weeks ago listening to Fela Kuti. Staring out of my panoramic living room window facing Midtown, Manhattan. Within three hours I wrote my greatest piece of writing to date. It's descriptive, confidential, and vindictive. When I dive into these modes where I'm expressing frustrations on personal conundrums, I design cover art for these pieces to make them feel finished. Artwork adds a layer of depth to our writing that we could all benefit from. I'm still working on physically penning these words on paper in blue ink like a real journal I can stuff in my briefcase. I'm too addicted to my laptop =/

I misplaced my mic for a few days while rearranging the apartment a bit for the Fall. As I remain experimental with the direction of this podcast, lately I've been drawn to capturing the acoustics of a ride on the subway. Briefly, you could hear those nasty ass coughs. I rarely take the iron horse these days, but I scheduled an impromptu Apple Genius Bar appointment in Grand Central and took off mid-day. Pressed play while speed walking to the 7-train and decided not to hop the turnstile to keep it player on wax. In reality, I wanted to capture OMNY's payment sound for the episode. Every sonic detail is accredited and connected. It's all about creating a story out of thin air.

I return from a year-long hiatus to share the monumental upgrade in audio quality with a raw, lengthy soundscape of a store run in my neighborhood. A LOT has changed since last Spring, I'll cover those grounds in the upcoming episodes. When I checked my dashboard in DR last week, 17 listeners were still tuned in somehow. That's love. New cover art sans text. No more numerical episode nomenclature, titles/sentences are more engaging. New audio recorder (my iPhone's Voice Memos app is retired for good). And a renewed commitment to the craft.

There has been an undeniable normalization of online sports betting.
In our hedonistic society, we owe it to ourselves to remain as mindful and responsible as we possibly can when it comes to how we feed into pleasures. It's no way to live life, but one way to feel thrilled. Although my experience with gambling has been somewhat successful and not a deterrent to my life financially, I wholly acknowledge many cannot say the same.
If you're going to participate, my best advice would be:
- Only bet 1% of your monthly income
- Deduct 40% of your withdrawals for taxes by transferring those funds into a high-yield savings account to accrue interest until next year
- Do whatever you want with the remaining 60% of your withdrawals—you earned it
Please bet responsibly and chill tf out if you find yourself addicted.

I'm fresh off a trip from Paris—celebrated my 31st birthday out there. It was a genuine dream come true.

24 min - 22 - Social Media Dissociation & Writing a Memoir
I'm back :)
Hiatuses are essential to my mental health, even more so when you're constantly inundated with repetitive content. We're at a point where most of what we see endlessly thumbing up and down our screens, one after the other are unreasonable facsimiles of what's deemed popular. That or we're forced to cyclicly interact with whatever the algorithm feeds us—neither are great options. What always rang true to supplement your creativity is to go against the grain. Post to your leisure, post what gives you a contented smile, and don't think too hard.
On the flip side exercise social media dissociation, try to leave more comments below content you love/support to boost engagement, and work on how you craft IG stories. Weirdos like me care about sh!t like that. Bonus if you post on TikTok.
I also began writing a short memoir on my experiences being raised in the projects of Brownsville, Brooklyn. The first 10 pages are HEAT. What should I name it? I'm aiming to publish sometime next year, preferably when it's warm out.
