The world needed a hero………….they got Black Adam! This was one of the more anticipated movies in the last couple of years, on the DC side. The reason I say that, is because DC is going through some major changes, and so many people were looking for Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson to change all of that with the debut of his super hero, and with the debut of the film, the Black Adam!
“In ancient Kahndaq, Teth Adam was bestowed the almighty powers of the gods. After using these powers for vengeance, he was imprisoned, becoming Black Adam. Nearly 5,000 years have passed, and Black Adam has gone from man to myth to legend. Now free, his unique form of justice, born out of rage, is challenged by modern-day heroes who form the Justice Society: Hawkman, Dr. Fate, Atom Smasher and Cyclone.“
Not necessarily a “different” superhero movie, but it’s also not really a superhero movie. It’s more of an anti-villain film, that features the superheroes in the Justice Society of America. The story of Black Adam is one of slavery, sadness, and revenge, and it actually does a really good job for the most part, of portraying all of that. On top of that, you get some pretty cool action sequences! I hope this was the shot in the arm that the DC universe needed!

Are you ready to move on from zombies, and onto another creature of the night? Now, Vampires by no means have been sheltered from their fame, as they’ve definitely had their moments to shine as well. BUT, now seems like a great chance to dip back into the Vampire genre, and there is no better story to do that with, than Interview with the Vampire!
“Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire, or simply Interview with the Vampire, is an American gothic horror and vampire television series created by Rolin Jones, based on the 1976 novel of the same name by Anne Rice. It stars Jacob Anderson as Louis de Pointe du Lac, Sam Reid as the vampire and Louis’ lover Lestat de Lioncourt, Bailey Bass as teenage vampire Claudia, Assad Zaman as ancient vampire Armand and Eric Bogosian as journalist Daniel Molloy. The series embraces the homosexual elements of Rice’s work, which are only insinuated in the 1994 film adaptation of the novel. It is the first television series in Rice’s Immortal Universe.”

The subject of today’s episode came as a surprise release to most people, but ended up being a very fun surprise for everyone!! They labeled it a “special presentation” which we assumed just means that it’s a “short” as opposed to being a full feature length film. We are talking about Marvel’s Werewolf by Night!
“It is the first Marvel Studios Special Presentation in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), sharing continuity with the films and television series of the franchise. The special was produced by Marvel Studios, and follows a secret group of monster hunters as they compete for a powerful relic while going up against a dangerous monster.”
This film clocks in at just a short 53 minutes. BUT, it does a lot of heavy lifting in that 53 minutes. We get introduced to a whole bunch of new people, including three major characters; Elsa Bloodstone, Jack Russell, & Man Thing. The introduction Man Thing, was especially surprising, and the waves were felt around the internet, in the form of some fun reviews. If you’re a fan of this side of the Marvel universe in the comics, you definitely need to make sure that you make time to watch this film!

We’re doing a double feature today!! We’re talking about a current movie, wrapped into our pop culture classic!! If you’re a horror fan, then this is the episode for you! We’re talking about the newest Pinhead project, Hellraiser, and the original Pinhead Project, also aptly named, Hellraiser!
“Sexual deviant Frank (Sean Chapman) inadvertently opens a portal to hell when he tinkers with a box he bought while abroad. The act unleashes gruesome beings called Cenobites, who tear Frank’s body apart. When Frank’s brother (Andrew Robinson) and his wife, Julia (Clare Higgins), move into Frank’s old house, they accidentally bring what is left of Frank back to life. Frank then convinces Julia, his one-time lover, to lure men back to the house so he can use their blood to reconstruct himself.”
“A young woman must confront the sadistic, supernatural forces behind an enigmatic puzzle box responsible for her brother’s disappearance.”
Double Hellraiser for all you horror fans!! One of us is not a big Hellraiser fan but is ok watching because it’s horror, and the other has seen all of them. If you haven’t seen them, you should always, at least give it a chance. If not the original, the new ones look is definitely improved with the years, but when you say Pinhead, there is generally one distinct villain that comes to mind, so the original may be your thing. Go watch, and let us know what you think!

There was a lot of hype going into today’s subject. I don’t necessarily mean from us, but I mean hype around the movie in general. The reviews for the newest versions of Halloween seemed to be relatively positive, and this was the one that was going to bring it home! We’re talking about the trilogy ending, Halloween Ends!
“Four years after her last encounter with masked killer Michael Myers, Laurie Strode is living with her granddaughter and trying to finish her memoir. Myers hasn’t been seen since, and Laurie finally decides to liberate herself from rage and fear and embrace life. However, when a young man stands accused of murdering a boy that he was babysitting, it ignites a cascade of violence and terror that forces Laurie to confront the evil she can’t control.”
As always, we recommend that you go watch the movie, and form your own opinion. You may find that the titular villain isn’t as present as you might like, in this final film. It almost feels like a Michael Myers adjacent movie, as apposed to a straight Michael Myers/Halloween movie! But, give a try and see what you think!

Our spooky sessions are almost at an end! Today’s episode comes from a lower budget film that had some super cool promotions leading into its opening weekend! If you didn’t see the media stunts during the MLB then you should do yourself a favor, and go check out the stunts! We are talking about the horror film, Smile!
“After witnessing a bizarre, traumatic incident involving a patient, Dr. Rose Cotter starts experiencing frightening occurrences that she can’t explain. As an overwhelming terror begins taking over her life, Rose must confront her troubling past in order to survive and escape her horrifying new reality.”
What do you do when you’re a doctor and the last patient that you examine, kills herself in front of you, after telling you that she’s being haunted by some creature with a menacing smile? Now you’re seeing random strangers with this giant smile on their faces, and you’re inching closer and closer to your death day. Well, find out how you get cursed, and then move it on to the next person, that’s what you do of course.

It’s pop culture classic time everyone!! We’re going back to 1988 to talk about our next topic, which is one year after I was born!! Somehow Doyle doesn’t have the best and nicest things to say about this movie, but this movie is definitely well loved by the masses!! We’re talking about Beetlejuice!!
“After Barbara (Geena Davis) and Adam Maitland (Alec Baldwin) die in a car accident, they find themselves stuck haunting their country residence, unable to leave the house. When the unbearable Deetzes (Catherine O’Hara, Jeffrey Jones) and teen daughter Lydia (Winona Ryder) buy the home, the Maitlands attempt to scare them away without success. Their efforts attract Beetlejuice (Michael Keaton), a rambunctious spirit whose “help” quickly becomes dangerous for the Maitlands and innocent Lydia.”
It’s baffling to me, as through my life I’m not sure that I’ve ever met anybody who doesn’t like Beetlejuice, and then Doyle walked into my life! It’s hard not to like this Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder film, and if you’ve made it this far in your life without watching it, you DEFINITELY need to stop and go find it! Doyle is wrong, and this is a fun movie!

Do you like the horror genre? How about horror when it comes to religion, exorcism’s, and demons? Today we’re talking about season three of such a show!! Evil, our topic for the day, has been such an entertaining series for the last few years! This season has been no different, and I think has been the best season so far!
“A skeptical forensic psychologist (Herbers) allies with a Catholic seminarian (Colter) and a technology contractor (Mandvi) to investigate purported supernatural incidents.”
This season leaves off where the last season ended! A family in disarray is trying to stop the forces of evil from tearing them apart even further, and spreading to the rest of the world. While all of that is going on with Kristen’s family, David is getting more and more used to being a formal Priest, and dealing with evil on a much deeper level! Ben and the team still go on assessments while they try and figure out why everything is happening to them, while Leland is doing his best to take over! This is such a good season, and this series is always worth the watch!

So many Stephen King books are made into movie and TV adaptations. This subject is different in that it was made specifically so that it would go right to the TV, and the “book” that was made from the screenplay came out right before it debuted on TV, only to try and sell the screenplay itself, not because it was meant to be a book. BUT, we’re talking about the Stephen King film, Storm of the Century!
“A dangerous blizzard hits an isolated town and brings along a mysterious stranger intent on terrorizing people for his own desires. A small village off the mainland is about to receive a huge winter storm. It won’t be just another storm for them.”
This is a story about what happens when you’re given an unanswerable problem. When a stranger visits a small town during a really have storm, it enables this stranger to get a leg up on the town. You find out who and what the stranger is, and a father must decide what to do with his own son that is being pulled away from him, while watching the townspeople die. What a strange story, but always worth the watch!

We’re onto part two of one of the best Batman movies that have been made in some time!! It’s spooky season, but while this may not be the most spooky thing that you could watch for Halloween, it’s definitely worth the watch for sure!!
“Batman suspects that a former ally might be the serial killer. The killer known as Holiday continues to stalk the Falcone crime family while a new class of costumed criminal rises in Gotham City. Batman suspects that a former ally might be the serial killer.”
What do you do when you suspect one of your really good friends is also a serial killer, and going insane? The answer to that question might actually surprise you, but this Batman has to answer. The ending will definitely come as a surprise as well, but in the middle of it all, you get a REALLY good Batman story that tells a great narrative, but also looks really good! Not much to nitpick when it comes to The Long Halloween Part 2!
