  • A Recent Spike in Cyberattacks in Hawaii (ThinkTech Tech Talks)

They Are Targeting Government Contractors.  The host for this show is Jay Fidell.  The guests are Attila Seress and Gerhard Rickert.

Atilla Seress of Cylanda and cybersecurity professional Gerard Rickert tell us about a spike in cyberattacks targeting local businesses that are prime or subcontractors for government work in Hawaii. Because of the nature of this targeting, a nation-state actor may be behind them. The attacks are being delivered as very believable, highly targeted emails that direct victims to a convincing copy of a Hawaii.gov website that is intended to harvest email credentials.

You may have heard about cyberattacks by foreign governments like North Korea, Russia and Iran from the news. They’re all too common and are referred to as nation-state threats, directing their attacks on critical infrastructure, military and businesses. On their hit list is gathering federally protected infrastructure data such as blueprints and internal documents, and personal information that could be used for extortion and backdoor access to government networks.

  • Transitional Justice in Afghanistan (Transitional Justice)

Gendered Inclusion in Afghanistan.  The host for this show is Jay Fidell.  The guest is Anni Lindén.

For decades, Afghanistan has been a playground for great power politics. Come post-9/11 era, Afghan women's rights became the centre of the international discussion, along with "bringing democracy" to Afghanistan.

In this episode, we discuss whether and how Afghan women were included in the peace process, who gets the say on what state-building and peace mean in different contexts, and the issues in foreign interference in a state's transition to peace. Now, with Taliban having taken over the country again, history has repeated itself. What could we have done differently before the US retreated from Afghanistan in 2021?

Transitional Justice is coordinated together with Project Expedite Justice.
