This is a brief history since Hobson’s bargain bought in 1841. It discusses some factors that contributed to Auckland today.

It also discusses the impact of these histories on Karangahape Road at  key points of 1850 // 1900 // 1950 // 1970 and 90’s till now .

Heterotopias are the real and effective spaces that challenge normative society. Bars, Nightclubs, Stripclubs, Churches, Cemeteries, Pacific and cultural spaces, non-normative escapes from a cities 'uniform.' These deviant or ceremonious spaces remind occupants that space is illusory and status quo is constructed. Along a road of heaps of heterotopias -  this looks like a collage of numerous points - a net making its own muddle. These spaces are essential to society and here's why !
