A washed-up rockstar living a mundane life, Tom, begins suffering visions after being hypnotized at a house party. The visions soon lead to a string of unanswered questions surrounding the apparition that has befriended his son, which has now begun driving a wedge further into their deteriorating marriage when Tom claims to have seen the apparition himself. Madness has planted itself in Tom's brain, and discovering the truth is the only resolution to free him and his family of their suffering.

Kevin Bacon in a 90s horror film is pretty much as great as it gets. Do you remember back when we discussed You Should Have Left (2020) and Kaytlynn promised a better Bacon film? This is it. With a ghostly presence and unsolved mystery unravelling before us, we get the best of haunting 90s horror in Stir of Echoes (1999) written and directed by David Koepp. This is a film adaptation of the 1958 novel of the same title by Richard Matheson, which is really adding to the layers of what happened and why in this film.

Through a brief introduction you find out you are an investigative journalist named Miles Upshur, sent to the asylum to gather documentation with only a notebook and a camcorder. Inside the belly of this maniacal Hell awaits every test subject ever gone wrong. With no ability to fight back you must rely on your camcorder batteries and your stealth to keep you safe and alive. Expect some amazing scares and some of the goriest scenery when you walk into the minds of these developers splattered on every surface.

A young nomad accepts a demanding four week contract working in solitary with an intolerable Lighthouse Keeper. Immediately the desolation and psychological anguish begin to chip away at Ephraim Winslow (Robert Pattinson) as his demanding superior Thomas Wake (Willem Dafoe) seemingly creates obstacles to further complicate a hard day’s work. Their inability to maintain a consistent relationship only adds to the unanswered questions Winslow has about Wake’s specific practices and why only he is allowed to tend to the light.

Director Robert Eggers (also the writer & director of The VVitch) delivers another intricate tale of insanity amidst isolation and shares with us a compelling depth of background research that went into carefully structuring this film as Robert Eggers and his brother Max Eggers, wrote the script. There may be an endless number of times you could watch this film and always notice something new.

When wealthy and retired Theo (Bacon) and his up-and-coming actress wife Susanna (Seyfried) decide they need a break from their daily routines and distractions, they rent a beautiful property in the countryside of Wales, bringing along their young daughter Ella (Avery Tiiu Essex) for a picture-perfect family getaway. With hopes of repairing long-endured damage to their relationship, the billowing hillsides and fresh country air can't compete with the wedge that is firmly present between their marriage. Theo, desperate for connection and communication that is left unrequited finds himself regularly meditating while simultaneously losing hours of time in this not-so-simple getaway home. What will this deeply twisted tale reveal within with the walls of the Stetler property?
