Remember the expression "Smooth move, Ex-Lax"? (GenX in the house!) Well, in this episode we talk about "soothe moves", or self-soothing. When our brains start speeding up and we want to calm down organically and naturally, it's normal for us to move our body in certain ways to self-regulate or self-soothe. Whether it's rubbing your temples, ears, arm above your head, or even cricketing, we all have our "soothe moves" (you'll have to watch or listen to find out what that last one is!).
Keeping ourselves regulated seems like it can be a full time job. And it's all connected - body, mind, diet, exercise. Maybe drink some tea, do some pushups, or hit the shower. "You know what you do with a crab, you put it in water"!
We also go into probably too much detail about how we're sleeping! Are you a back, belly, or side sleeper? Starfish anyone? How about sleep schedules and sleep rhythms? We talk about it!
This Is How My Brain Works
Hosts: Krista Gano, Sarah Hines, Jason Rudofsky and Michael Collins
We’re a group of GenXers who learned about our ADHD and neurodiversity later in life. Join us as we discuss interesting clips we find online and how they relate to our own life experiences.
Please note: While we are advocates for for mental health awareness, we are not mental health professionals. The purpose of our podcast is to help other neurodiverse people by sharing our own experiences, as well as tools and resources we have found valuable to us.
