  • Friend, Foes and February Woes
Lisa and Sue have returned from their Christmas / New Year break and are ready to make an impression in 2018.
Speaking of impressions, Lisa shares a recent occurrence on one of her social media platforms.
It was bound to happen, but for some reason it took her by surprise.
She has been “unfriended” … is it the ultimate social media insult?
Lets face it.  It has got to be the internet equivalent of being snubbed, it’s the web 2.0 version of being given the finger.
Sue is also having trouble adjusting back into working life after an extended holiday break, is there such a thing as “holiday brain” or is Sue just getting dementia?

If you would like Lisa and Sue cover a topic, why don’t you get in touch with us on [email protected] we would love to hear from you.  Also why don’t you subscribe via I-Tunes, give us a rating (which will bump up our podcast in the I-Tunes store).

  • Pet Debt

Apparently the cost of owning a dog over its lifetime can cost you up to $25,000.  Cats cost slightly less but also live longer than dogs, so will set you back about the same as owning a dog.

Adding that furry friend to your family can give you companionship, love and exercised but can you afford one?

The OWLS discuss their recent pet related debt.  Sue shares stories of sick and moody chickens and Lisa discusses the decision to undertake costly dentistry work opposed to dog halitosis.

Also is Pet Insurance a scam or a good investment?

Only in true OWLS fashion can you get a balanced and humorous take on the serious subjects in life.

  • It’s a YES from Australia

Where were you at 10:00 am, Wednesday 15th November?  The OWLS discuss where they were to hear the historic announcement that the majority of Australians agreed that LGBTI people should have the right to marry and be equal.  Of course nothing is straight forward in Lisa and Sue’s worlds when this historical event is marred by some hysterical stories.

Then Lisa and Sue talk about the opportunities of starting a new business to coincide with the many wanted same sex marriage nuptials in the future.  Would they really be good at planning weddings and is that Bo Peep wedding theme really going to take off?

Also, don’t forget if you would like Lisa and Sue cover a topic, why don’t you get in touch with us on [email protected] we would love to hear from you.  Also why don’t you subscribe via I-Tunes, give us a rating (which will bump up our podcast in the I-Tunes store).

  • Ageing Bodies … Wonderland or Secondhand?

The OWLS discuss their mortality and the pros and cons of getting older.  Anyway who ever said growing older gracefully is lying! It’s a myth so women who are over 40 don’t stress about the things to come.  That dirty word … Menopause!

Lisa and Sue talk about hot flushes and hot sports cars.  Do women go through a midlife crisis … of course they do and why shouldn’t we.  Sue gives us some tips of how to traverse a midlife crisis.

Of course in true OWLS fashion there are amusing stories from Lisa and Sue going about their usual daily life.

  • Courtesy Conundrums

The OWLS discuss courtesy or the lack of it. It seems everyone is so wrapped up in their own worlds these days that no one seems to be courteous anymore.

What would you do if a work colleague is being so disruptive, talking loudly or eating last night’s pungent curry right next to your desk? Would you say something, or ignore it?

The OWLS are on their soapbox today discussing the new phenomenon of working in an agile and flexible manner.  More and more corporations are getting rid of personal desks and opting for “hot desks”.  Do you like working in an “agile” workplace or do you just yearn for your own desk and your own personal items.

Perhaps the older the OWLS get, the grumpier or less tolerant they are as they can see very little courtesy in the workplace and on public transport.  As usual Lisa & Sue have some funny situations and stories to share.

Dealing with cyclonic weather, juggling vegetarianism and why you opt in to do things you would never do at home.  Have you ever had that holiday that you loved to hate or wondered how you survived ‘holiday brain”?

The OWLS are back and talking about staying calm and graceful when losing all dignity. Have you ever had an instance when you have embarrassed yourself so much that laughter is the best way to cover up your shame? Well today’s podcast is for you because you aren’t alone.

In true OWLS form Lisa and Sue unpack the key to successfully moving forward in the face of a dignity dive down under … or abroad!

  • Cheaters, Liars and Justifiers

On the back of the Same Sex Marriage March for Equality Lisa lets slip that she didn’t actually march the full route in Melbourne that day, which lead to more in depth discussions of telling “untruths” or “omissions”.

In true OWLS form Lisa and Sue delve into their childhood antics to demonstrate that sometimes as good as you think you are, perhaps you all have some secret indiscretions.

  • Going Postal for Marriage Equality

With so much happing with the pending Same Sex Marriage Postal Vote, Lisa and Sue take the opportunity to give their opinion on the matter. The OWLS are “not happy Jan!”

With such a serious issue being debated via a non-binding postal vote Lisa & Sue come up with some other serious decisions that could be made in a similar manner.

They also share a kooky tune from Tim Minchin on the debate but listeners should be warned that he drops the “F” bomb.

And remember if you want Lisa and Sue cover a topic, why don’t you get in touch with us on [email protected] we would love to hear from you.

  • Bicycles, Bollards and Banter

Lisa and Sue are back in the studio and discussing all that the wonderful city of Melbourne has to offer.

Whether it be the kooky Melbourne pranksters who have upset the Melbourne Lord Mayor or the graffiti artists inhabiting our famous laneways, Lisa and Sue struggle to limit only 10 items on their bucket list to be completed before the end of the year.

From bikes to bites or buses to bollards Lisa and Sue meander through a journey of what it is like to live in Melbourne.

And remember if you want Lisa and Sue cover a topic, why don’t you get in touch with us on [email protected] we would love to hear from you.

This week’s music includes and old classic and another from a truely Melbourne local artist singing about inner city Melbourne:

“Bicycle Race” by Queen – Jazz (1978)

“Depreston”  by Courtney Barnett – Sometimes I Sit and Think and Sometimes I Just Sit  (2015)
