The Rebound and The Identity are 2 violations committed by girls when they change their criteria for the blank space in order to have a boyfriend. We've all seen both of these but it's important to remember how they're different. The Rebound tries to get a boyfriend to preserve self-confidence after a breakup whereas The Identity NEEDS a boyfriend to feel like she is being herself.

Humans follow patterns in the way they choose to act. That's why the list theory and the blank space theory work. Humans are creatures of habits and we follow the norms of society around us. However, because we have the capacity to make decisions sometimes we go against the "established" patterns of society and participate in violations of the theories. Violation episodes focus on what happens when people don't follow their theory properly. The obsessive creep and the hung-up violations of the list theory happen when a man makes a woman his number 1 before they are in a committed relationship.

My roommate Ezra, who got COVID during Thanksgiving and led to me writing my essay, joins the show to analyze one of his past wannabe relationships. Ezra's honestly more of a pro than I am on these theories and we use the essay/theories as a point of reference in almost all of our late night heart to hearts.

As humans we always think we're right and we think everyone else thinks in the same way we do. This means that guys look at what girls do and judge their actions as if the girl has a list theory. Girls also judge guys as if they had a blank space theory. This leads to a lot of confusion.

It's easy to get frustrated because guys and girls think differently. Sometimes we think it would be easier if we all just thought the same, but imagine what relationships would be like if we did.
