September 16, 2024FAKE, PHONY, SHAMS AND SELF-DECEPTION! PART 1Send us a textFAKE, PHONY, SHAMS AND SELF-DECEPTIONS! PART 1If I could paraphrase the words of Paul from the book of I Corinthians, there are church services, houses of prayer, memberships or whatever else one may want to call these Sunday and midweek meetings that literally do more harm to their members than good. They hurt the spirit man more than they help. I heard Tony Evans say recently in one of his sermons that people come to church to make themselves feel good. To put it in my own words it’s as though people go to church for that weekly high or fix and yet leave with the same poor attitudes, bad character and evil hateful spirits that they came with. The unfortunate thing is that when evil spirits get together with like spirits they become more evil and stronger. When racism, hatred and poor character get together on a weekly basis they encourage each other. They find strength in one another. It’s as though they’re saying, “I’m okay, you’re okay.” They can’t see and refuse to see the darkness in others because it would mean that they would have to identify it within themselves. It would mean that they would have to take the plank out of their own eyes before they could remove the splinter from someone else’s. September 09, 2024GOD IS THAT YOU? PART 3Send us a textFor this as well as the past two episodes God has been speaking to us concerning hearing His voice and how to know when and if it's truly Him. The true litmus test in knowing when a dream, or for that matter, any message is of God or not, is to be sure that it lines up with His word. It must be in His language. No matter how great, awesome or for that matter even terrifying a dream may be, if it doesn’t line up with the word of God, if it’s not in His language then it’s not God. And let me say that if you don’t know God’s language then you will never understand what He’s speaking. That means for us to be on one accord with Him we must speak the same language that God does. What is God’s language? The Bible. If we don’t know God’s word, the Bible, then we will never understand what He’s speaking to us. It will always be guesses and assumptions, a bunch of hit and misses. God’s word is the Bible and that’s the language He uses to speak to us and it’s how His word is confirmed. A sure way of knowing when something or someone is truly of God is when what they are saying lines up with His word. Don’t let a prophet, apostle, pastor or anyone else speak something into your life that doesn’t line up with God’s word. September 03, 2024GOD IS THAT YOU? PART 2Send us a textIn 2 Kings 16 it says that when Ahaz was king he went to Damascus and saw an altar. He sent drawings of the altar back to Uriah the priest with instructions to build and place it in the temple next to the altar of God. Then it says in the 15th verse; He commanded Uriah the priest, “Use the large altar to burn the morning burnt offerings, the evening grain offerings, and the drink offerings from all the people of this country. Sprinkle all the blood from the burnt offering and other sacrifices on the large altar. But I will use the bronze altar to get answers from God.” That’s exactly how some of us handle our prayer lives. We give our time, offerings, our money, worship and everything else to the idols we serve until we need an answer. Then and only then do we begin to seek the true and living God. Only when we really need something do we truly begin to pray. There are far too many who feel that prayer is a chore and something that they don’t want to be bothered with until they really need something. Too many feel that it’s useless, futile and a waste of time. Because of these lies, (from flesh as well as the enemy), words and thoughts of discouragement when it comes to prayer, there are those who begin to believe that God doesn’t hear them. In actuality it’s not that God doesn’t hear them, but rather that He’s not answering. There are so many, who just like king Ahaz, have two altars; one for the offerings and the other for seeking God when they need an answer. There are those who see prayer as a task to either be avoided until absolutely necessary or for a matter that needs to be dealt with quickly. They deem prayer as a hurry up and get it over with issue. It's something that they can procrastinate with and never actually get to. They aren’t willing to take the time necessary to have real communication with the Father. August 26, 2024GOD IS THAT YOU?Send us a textWe all know about the fruit of the spirit; love, joy, peace, gentleness, kindness, goodness, patience, long suffering and self-control. I always say that the first three, love, joy and peace are the easiest to develop. The second three are not as easy but doable. The last three however, patience, long suffering and self control are absolute doozies! No one wants to deal with developing patience because they’re not patient. Long suffering is painful and self control as far as many are concerned is totally unnecessary and unheard of in this age and time. However, if one wants to hear the voice of God those are the three fruit that are most needed. Why? Because where all of the fruit of the spirit are needed, it’s those three in particular that are necessary to develop the life and discipline of prayer and relationship with the Father that’s necessary to hear His voice. Bottom line is that, if you don’t have a prayer life then you’re not hearing from God. August 19, 2024IF YOU'RE IN HIS WILL THEN STAY STILL! PART 2Send us a textWithout it being said, it’s a given fact that the blindfolded woman on the wheel is working for and with the knife thrower. Her work is not pointless or futile. And so it is with each of us. Our work in and with our Father is not fruitless. Although in the sight and opinion of some it’s as though all that we seem to be doing is standing there with our lives going around and around. It seems as though we might be oblivious, totally blind to all that’s occurring around us, and to a certain degree we are. And yet, because of our faith, trust and belief in the God we serve we have no doubt, fear or unbelief in knowing that He will cause all things to work together for our good. Why? Because we trust Him, we believe in Him and we have the confidence in Him that He can’t miss when it comes to doing what’s best for His sons and daughters. We know that in spite of what we see or for that matter what we can’t see, we know that as long as we are steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord that our labor in the Lord is not in vain . August 12, 2024IF YOU'RE IN HIS WILL THEN STAY STILL!Send us a textThe whole purpose of the woman on the wheel with the blindfolded knife thrower is for entertainment. However, a big part of that entertainment is to bring fear to those who watch! It’s like the best horror movie you’ve ever seen. Sometimes our lives are those horror movies in real time, real life and nothing can be done to turn it off or to walk away from it. Unfortunately, there are far too many in the body of Christ who become so fearful that it hinders our Father from doing for us what needs to be done. We receive all that God has for us when we wait patiently without fear. We must trust Him for His word, His move and His good decisions to be accomplished. We must be willing to wait and know that He is God in spite of the fear, stress and trepidation that the enemy tries to bring against us. Be still and know that He is God! In the Contemporary English Version that same 10th verse of Psalms 46 reads; Our God says, “Calm down, and learn that I am God! ” You heard Him, He said Calm down. Calm down and learn that He is God! When we actually come to the realization of just how much God is God we won’t keep trying to take control of things. August 05, 2024HARD OR EASY IT'S YOUR CHOICE PART 3Send us a textWe all know about the knife thrower in the circus or sideshow. There’s the beautiful woman, blindfolded, standing and strapped to a spinning wheel while the confident, all knowing man, who's also blindfolded, throws those long, sharp, penetrating knives at her. Every time after each performance she walks away unharmed. Although both participants are applauded, it’s the knife thrower who is seen as the hero and star of the show. Everyone stands in awe of his prowess, timing and skills. The woman, on the other hand, realizes that in order for the man to have success she has to have complete trust in his skills as a knife thrower and of course she has to remain perfectly still and in place as he has positioned her. Let me be honest with each of you, as great as the skills of a knife thrower might be, no matter how many years he’s been practicing this feat, there is no way I’d say yes to taking the place of the woman on the wheel. But what if someone offered me a tax free $10,000,000 dollars? There is no amount of money that someone could offer me to stand there while he’s blindfolded and allow him to throw knives my way. My choice would still be a sound, definite, undeniable no. It would be my option. Would I miss the opportunity of a lifetime? Quite possibly. Would the time come that I would regret it? Most probably. But with it being my option and even with the knowledge of what I might miss I would still say no. And so it is with the choice that our heavenly Father gives us. We have the option to say no when given the choice of whether or not we’re willing to trust Him implicitly with our eyes closed, not His. Blind trust is what we need when it comes to saying yes to God. It needs to be a matter of knowing that in spite of what we can or cannot see, we must believe that without a doubt He can’t miss when it comes to doing what’s best for us. July 29, 2024HARD OR EASY IT'S UP TO YOU! Part 2Send us a textAs I shared last week, at a time when I was whining, murmuring, and complaining God asked me if I wanted to quit. He gave me the choice as to whether or not I would go on or just stop where I was spiritually. The choice was mine but also as said last week, whatever choice we make, there will be a price to pay. We need to make these decisions through prayer and by listening to our Father’s voice. Too many don’t recognize and utilize prayer for what it is. In my personal opinion I think that many Christians see prayer as a task and a chore rather than the golden opportunity it is. It’s literally a joyous occasion and an absolute divine privilege of spending time with the Father in which we are not only speaking to Him but then giving Him the time to speak back to us. If you’re not allowing our Father to speak back to you while you’re in prayer then the bottom line is that, you’re not really praying. I hate to say this but perhaps this is why so many are experiencing unanswered prayers. If we’re not spending true, quality time in prayer and devotion then we will never hear God’s voice in reference to the things that He wants to do on our behalf. We will never hear His answer in reference to the prayers we’re praying. July 22, 2024HARD OR EASY IT'S UP TO YOU! Part 1Send us a textThere is nothing in life that we have to do except die before we stand in the judgment. And so it is with the God we serve. With Him there is nothing that we have to do because God will not force us to do anything not even serve Him. We are free will agents. In the Easy To Read Version in John 6 at the 67th verse it says that Jesus asked the twelve, “Do you want to leave too?” It was entirely up to them. Jesus gave them the right to choose to do as His other followers had chosen, and that was to leave. As a young single mother raising two sons as I’ve stated on many occasions it was very hard for me. I would do, as the Isralites did as they wandered through the wilderness, I murmured and complained. During those years I was very afraid. I didn’t know how I was going to make it or how any of our needs would be met, but what I did know was that I was saved and I also knew that God had a plan and calling for my life. One day as I was deep in thought I heard God speak to my spirit and say; “do you want to quit?” Do you want to stop where you are right now and not go any further?” I knew without having to hear Him say it that He was not referring to me backsliding or going back into a sinful life but rather just not moving forward. God was giving me the option of no more struggles, no more fear or depression. The choice was mine, I had to choose. July 15, 2024DON'T GO BACK AND DON'T LET IT COME BACK TO YOU! PART 2Send us a textThere was a young prophet in the book of Kings whose name was never given. All it says about him was that God told him to go and give a message to the king. God was also very explicit in instructing him not to return by the way he came. The prophet delivered the message and then the king invited him to go home with him for food and a gift. It reads in I Kings 13:9-10; So he took another road and did not return by the way he had come to Bethel. For I was commanded by the word of the Lord: ‘You must not eat bread or drink water or return by the way you came.’” There are simply things, ways and habits that we can not return to no matter what anyone else says. However, there was an old prophet that the Bible says lied to the young prophet and told the young man that God had given him a word for him to come back to eat and drink at his house. The young prophet listened to the old prophet and returned with him. Later a lion killed the young prophet. Have you ever gotten into trouble with a bunch of friends but they all walked away with no difficulties or issues? You were the only one that got in trouble and they didn’t even get reprimanded or fussed at? That’s what the donkey represents in this story those that we go back with and nothing happens to them. But as for us, the ones who have been warned, there's something waiting to destroy us. The prophet was killed but the donkey was totally untouched. When we go a way that God has told us not to go back to, it will be us as individuals that will be dealt with.
