Melina Puente shares her heart regarding this week's replay, "After recording this podcast a year ago (2/27/22) with Kerri, my conviction was to be intentional and have accountability in applying Philippians 4:8 which says, ”And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.” This has resulted in a year of weekly phone calls with my dear friend Julia. Our time has been focused on the beautiful things that bring us peace beyond our understanding. Its impact on keeping my thoughts fixed on true and lovely things is still going strong!"
What are your thoughts focused on? What kind of fruit are your thoughts bearing? In this chapter, Paul clearly establishes how to experience God's peace by choosing prayer over worry so our hearts and minds are protected. Join Kerri and Melina as they share the power of training your mind to take every thought captive, keeping it fixed on the glorious list Paul writes in 4:8. Together, let's choose to think about what is true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, and worthy of praise!

Happy Valentine's Day! In honor of tomorrow's celebration, we're replaying one of our favorite episodes that helps us to focus on our Heavenly Father's heart for us to love others as He loves us. Galatians 6:2 implores us, “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”
Paul wraps up his letter to the struggling Christians in Galatia with one final exhortation: to choose the law of Christ which is to love and serve one another over the old law that burdened and distorted God’s grace.
Join Kerri and Crystal as they discuss the implications this verse has in our lives as followers of Jesus who have experienced forgiveness, healing, and freedom. With Christ as our true burden bearer, we are set free to serve one another in humility and love. We are empowered to selflessly support others in times of suffering, pointing one another back to the loving care of Jesus. In doing this, we reflect the heart of Jesus himself and partner with Him in His law of love!

Welcome to another week of "This One Thing" as Kerri Kenyon Dern and Crystal Wright dive into Isaiah 58 and discuss the heart of God and how we can be assured of His promises to guide and care for us as we stay in step with His purposes in this world. To pursue who God really is and what He cares about allows us to bear witness to the promises found in verse 11, “The LORD will guide you continually, giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength. You will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing spring.”
What are your spiritual priorities heading into 2023? How do they line up with God’s heart? Do you struggle to accept that God’s priorities may differ from your understanding of what’s important? Speaking on behalf of God, Isaiah points out the reality of our failed attempts at thinking we know how to please and pursue God through our religious traditions and illuminates the power found in desiring His heart to love and serve others. Join us today as we share what God reveals as important to Him, and how our humble service towards those in need is connected to God’s assurance of care for us.

Welcome back to "This One Thing" as we kick off our 3rd year! This week Kerri Keyon Dern and Melina Puente discuss the powerful truth Paul emphasizes to the believers in Ephesus. Together, they reflect on the heart of God’s incredible love and plan at work in Ephesians 1:11, “Furthermore, because we are united with Christ, we have received an inheritance from God, for he chose us in advance, and he makes everything work out according to his plan.”
Do the difficulties and circumstances in your life ever tempt you to believe the lie that God is distant or unconcerned? Have you ever wondered why the good plans you made don't seem to be coming to fruition? We have the propensity to forget we are united with Christ Jesus, and that God chose us before the world began. There is hope and peace available to us when we want His plan for our lives more than we want our own way. Join us as we share the challenge of getting on board with God’s plan, understanding our vulnerability and humility through this process is for our growth and His Glory. Let’s trade our will for God's plan!

Welcome back to another episode of "This One Thing." This week Melina Puente and Crystal Wright discuss the challenges of remembering that our life circumstances must not dictate our life purpose as believers to constantly pursue God's glory. Paul and Silas demonstrated what this truth means from a prison cell in Acts 16:25, “Around midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God and the other prisoners were listening.”
Let's be honest, how many times do we find ourselves singing when life circumstances feel entirely out of control? Do you try to find a solution in your own strength? As believers and followers of Jesus Christ, our lives might feel like a mystery sometimes. But even in the mysteries surrounding our lives there is one purpose; to bring God glory. Our lives are a witness to the power, love, and grace available to us 24/7 through the Holy Spirit. Join us today as we remember that we have a God who wants to rescue us and who is strengthening our faith as we surrender to Him through our prayers and songs.

Happy New Year and thank you for listening to a new episode of “This One Thing” with Crystal Wright and Melina Puente who share the hope and urgency in Jesus’ words to put their faith in Him. John 12:35 says, “Jesus replied, “My light will shine for you just a little longer. Walk in the light while you can, so the darkness will not overtake you. Those who walk in the darkness cannot see where they are going.”
Do you feel the weight of the Gospel in your daily walk? Do you boldly encourage others or feel the urgency to share the powerful truth of the Gospel? Do you speak the Gospel over yourself daily to pursue a pure heart? Out of His great love for us, God has always made it clear that an essential choice between life and death lies before each one of us. Choosing life is to receive the love and forgiveness of God, and live a new life of obedience in response to His salvation. Jesus presented this same choice in the last week of His earthly life, and that same invitation is given to us today; salvation from darkness by responding to Him in faith and obedience. We pray that as you enter into 2023 you will experience freedom from the darkness as you choose to walk in the light.

Welcome to another episode of “This One Thing” with Kerri Kenyon Dern. This week's verse, Hebrews 12:2, is Jesus' example for us to follow when faced with the weight of pain and suffering, “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
Do you believe you can walk through suffering with joy? Do you believe it matters to Jesus? To look like Jesus requires a level of suffering, and in the midst of it, we are called to not give up, lose heart or quit. Instead, we are called to experience the tenacious and inexplicable joy He did. When we don’t understand why we have to suffer or carry a cross we can barely hold up, we must remember that our pain and suffering matter to Jesus. There is a purpose beyond our many tears, broken hearts, and weary bodies. As we keep our eyes on Jesus, we can stand in the truth that our Heavenly future with Him awaits us and we can live For the JOY of all eternity with Him!

Thank you for joining us again this week for "This One Thing". In the final episode of 2021, Kerri Kenyon Dern and her guest Crystal Wright reflect together upon the Messianic promise spoken by the prophet Isaiah 700 years before the birth of Christ. Isaiah 9:6 says, "For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."
Isaiah spoke the promise of a rescuer into a world much like ours; broken, afraid, distressed and in darkness. As all of humanity cries out for a savior, God has answered our desperation by revealing His plan of salvation through the power of His Names. As you move into the Christmas season, Kerri and Crystal invite you to join them in celebrating the arrival of the son who was promised to each of us, Jesus Christ, God's Greatest Gift. We pray that together we may know His power to heal and transform every area of our lives as we experience Him as the Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace!

Welcome back to another episode of "This One Thing." This week Kerri Keyon Dern and Melina Puente celebrate together the promises found in Isaiah 54:17. In the closing verse of this chapter the prophet writes, "But in that coming day no weapon turned against you will succeed. You will silence every voice raised up to accuse you. These benefits are enjoyed by the servants of the LORD; their vindication will come from me. I, the LORD, have spoken!"
Did you know that you are being safeguarded by God as His most precious possession? Isaiah proclaims that our inheritance is one of victory, anchored in the declaration that God Himself is acting on behalf of His servants. Reflecting upon this promise, Kerri and Melina encourage us to remember that our true heritage is defined by who we belong to and not the circumstance, possessions, or opposition we face. Yes, troubles will come directly at us, but God is fully committed to defending us because we are His! Join us as we choose to apply this verse to our lives by cultivating a heart of gratitude throughout this holiday season; allowing ourselves to be fully enthralled by what it truly means to be God's beloved!
