Donuts N' Glory were a band from SoCal. They opened for bigger acts, like No Use for A Name, Suicide Machines, Nonsense, Ten Foot Pole, The Queers, The Quincy Punks, etc. In 1996 they recorded "When Pregnasaurs Ruled The Earth" at Westbeach in Hollywood with Donell Cameron, the same studio where Fat Wreck Chords had used for recording many of its bands in their early years. After the release of their record, they toured the west coast once, and toured to the east coast and back twice. A second album was never recorded.
This is an accidental 2 part interview. I talked to their drummer Gary in Episode 114 which you can find on youtube or thiswasthescene.com since podcast apps only keep your current 100 episodes. Hey said I should talk to Freddie so he connected us and this is what we chat about:

The Locust was an American hardcore punk band from San Diego, known for their mix of grindcore speed and aggression, and new wave experimentation complexity. Vocalist/bassist Justin Pearson said, "I wanted to change the way people perceive music, or maybe just destroy it in general." The Locust's music is complex, dynamic and fast-paced, often featuring abrupt and inconsistent time-signature changes. These erratic elements are, according to vocalist/guitarist Bobby Bray, "a reflection of perhaps how our brains have to function in order to be able to do anything in the Western societies we live in."
I got Justin on the Skype and this is what we chat about:
Check out his podcast Cult and Culture which is his podcast along with producer and musician Luke Henshaw. The show explores the DIY-driven, subversive world of art and culture, featuring a diverse array of guests from various subcultures. The podcast, recorded at PengOne Studios in San Diego, offers frank, informal, and well-informed conversations with guests ranging from Grammy-winning musicians, to actors like John Waters, and to Black Panther Party members. The aim is to blur traditional guest-host lines and foster casual openness. "Cult and Culture" is available wherever you podcast.

Ryan Cabrera is an American musician. He began his career as a lead singer for the Dallas band Rubix Groove before pursuing his solo career. Following the 2001 release of independent album Elm St., he released his first major-label album, Take It All Away, on August 17, 2004. Earlier in the year, Cabrera had become known for his up-tempo pop-rock single "On the Way Down". It was then followed by Cabrera's second single, "True"; and his third single "40 Kinds of Sadness". He's still performing to this day and you'll hear all about that in this interview.
I saw him on MTV a lot back in the day so I was super interested to know how the punk scene influenced him and what his lifestyle has been like since he broke out.
