  • Episode 142 - Twisted Wheel Brew Co. 2023 Update

I am delighted to welcome to the podcast Anthony from Twisted Wheel Brewery, based in Chorley.

Two weeks before Christmas 2022, Twisted Wheel Brewery was shuttered by HMRC due to substantial unpaid duty and VAT bills. This came as a huge shock to Anthony, who was as busy as he had ever been, brewing great modern Craft Beers.

Join me as I chat to Anthony about this painful experience, and hear how he is in the process of rescuing the Brewery, with the help of the amazing Northwest Craft Beer Community.

  • Episode 141 - Left Handed Giant

I am delighted to welcome to the podcast Bruce from Left Handed Giant based in Bristol.

Left Handed Giant originally started with a beer handed across to Small Bar owners Bruce Gray and Jack Granger. The beer was made by Rich Poole, who eventually set-up shop on on a small kit in the back of the same bar, fermenting the thought of a cuckoo brewery that became Left Handed Giant.

From its start in 2014, the brewery grew in stages, first by securing its own premises in the summer of 2017, and more recently in the latter part of 2019 a second, flagship location of a brewpub based in the centre of Bristol in Finzels Reach, overlooking the harbour off the River Avon.

Don honed his craft at both Dig Brew and Tap It, before launching Crop in 2021, initially contract brewing, before taking on the brewery at the Greenwich in Southsea, Portsmouth.

Crop is passionate about innovation as a constant, and if that means breaking things because they push them to far, well that’ll be lessons learned. At Crop they don’t brew by the rules, they bend them to the limit and make new ones that suit them.
