DEYA was founded by Theo Freyn in 2015 following the completion of his Masters in Brewing at Heriot Watt.

Having become obsessed with American beer and beer culture, Theo began perfecting the recipe for Steady Rolling Man, initially as a homebrewer, before taking on DEYAs first commercial unit in Cheltenham.

Gareth Moore joined DEYA as Head Brewer in 2016, and DEYA were then on a fast-track to the position they hold today as one of the most celebrated Craft Brewers in Europe.

I am delighted to welcome to the Podcast, Dan from Radio City Beer Works based in Chelmsford.

Dan has been an Essex Beer Enthusiast for many years, and he organised the first ever keg bar at the CAMRA's Chelmsford Festival in 2017, which sparked the idea for Radio City.

Dan's biggest challenge is time. Like many who start out in this industry, the brewery is run on the side of a full time career, and with a focus on quality, they will be producing new beers initially at a slow pace.

In July of this year, Radio City took a huge leap forward, opening Radio City Social, which is the fabulous railway arch Taproom in Central Chelmsford where we are recording live today!

I am delighted to welcome to the Podcast, Tom from Neon Raptor Brewing based in Nottingham.

It all started with some homebrew on the kitchen hob with a Wilko's stock pot, some garden hose and a copper pipe. Pleased with the progress they decided to enter the Brewdog Nottingham homebrew contest 2015, which to their delight they won, which gave Neon Raptor the encouragement they needed to give brewing a go for real.

From April 2016 there followed a period of cuckoo and gypsy brewing at various venues in the East Midlands, before establishing their own brewery and taproom in Sneiton Market in Central Nottingham.

I am delighted to welcome to The Podcast, Stef from Track Brewery based in Manchester.

Track was born out of the inspiration that owner Sam Dyson gained in 2008 when he set out to cycle around the World. As Sam crossed from East Coast to West in the USA, he saw what the future of beer could become, and set about bringing it to the UK when he returned.

Seven years later, Track was born under the arches beneath Manchester Piccadilly, and a couple of moves and a pandemic later, Track have opened a fabulous new Brewery and Taproom across the street from their close friends at Cloudwater, which is where we recorded this conversation.

Dave launched A Hoppy Place in Windsor with his wife Naomi and brother in law Jason in August 2019.

Since then the Windsor venue has twice won Regional Camra Pub Of The Year. It also won the SIBA Craft Beer Retailer of the Year award for a single outlet in 2021

Following a successful crowdfunder, in June 2022, Dave and Team opened a second much larger venue in their home town of Maidenhead, which is where we are recording this evening.

I am delighted to welcome to The Podcast, Alex from Bayonet Brewing based in Northallerton.

Bayonet was launched by Alex October 2021. since when the brewery has gone from strength to strength, building a solid reputation for exciting and modern craft beer. The word has spread and their beer is now stocked regularly across the Northeast of England and beyond.

The brewery is currently a part-time venture, but with a long-term vision a kit upgrade isn't too far off which will allow further spread both Regionally and Nationally.

Balance was set up in 2021 by James Horrocks and Will Harris and is the only brewery in Manchester dedicated entirely to the production of barrel fermented, mixed culture beers. James and Will met while working together at Chorlton Brewing Co. Now at Track (in the case of Will) and Squawk (James) and with over a collective decade of brewing experience, they decided it was time to set up Balance as a fabulous side-project!
