Imani Brothers, Mardie Carpenter, and Zakiya Pritchett of the THS varsity softball team hit three homers each last weekend at the J.U. Blacksher Invitational. Clarke County was spared the worst of Saturday night’s severe weather but other parts of the state and nation were not as fortunate. At least 42 people died across multiple states as a powerful storm system roared through the Midwest and South Saturday. Officer Christopher Phillips was recognized during the last meeting of the Thomasville City Council with a Life Saving Award for his heroic actions on Feb. 3, 2025. Phillips entered a smoke-filled residence to rescue a citizen who was unaware of the danger, putting his own life at risk to ensure the safety of others.
