Those Were The Days

This time we're watching Gargoyles in their very own spooky Halloween episode. This was an animated series that came out in the mid-90s and has become quite a cult classic. We go through a bunch of facts of the show and break down what makes it special. We had a lot of fun with this one and are excited for you to come along on the journey with us.

Next time, Stephen is bringing us to Michigan with Home Improvement! Every series has a Halloween episode and this one is no different. Watch the episode and tell us what you think!

It's the spooky season here on Those Were The Days! We're kicking off our spooky episode theme with a show that isn't exactly known for how spooky it can be, but is known for a sick looking car and David Hasselhoff. Knight Rider! This was one of those episodes that you definitely do NOT want to miss. So tell all your friends and give this a listen. We had an absolute blast chatting about this magical show.

Next time, Audie is taking us back to animation with Gargoyles! Watch it ahead of time and come hang out with us!

Have you ever wished that you could find a genie in a bottle that would grant your every wish? If you're Major Tony Nelson, maybe that wish shouldn't have come true? Or should it? Even the writers of the show couldn't decide! In our final episode of our Jumping the Shark series, we watch what happens when Major Nelson and Jeannie finally decide to tie the knot! This was some weird TV folks, and we're so glad you're joining us to chat about it.

Starting next week, we'll be covering SPOOKY episodes! It's time for our Halloween series. Kicking us off is TVsTravis with and episode of Knight Rider! I can't wait.

Schlameel! Schlamazel! This episode is all about one of the most famous comedy couples in classic TV, Laverne and Shirley. When it jumped the shark is hard to pin down. Was it the last episode that Shirley appeared in, or the one after? Well, we went with the last episode and it was a doozy. There's some wild sitcom shenanigans going on in this one and I'm real glad we picked it. Nothing like a good hypnotist trope to really bring the weirdness in. We also got to talk about a bunch of behind the scenes stuff that I was completely unaware of. Hope you learn something!

Next time, Amy is taking us all the way to Cocoa Beach with I Dream of Jeannie!

Space! The final frontier. We went there this week ya'll. We had a great conversation about Star Trek: The Original Series. It went full B-movie on this episode with Spock having his brain stolen by an attractive race of alien beings. Did we like it? Find out!

Next time on the show, we'll be covering Laverne & Shirley Season 8 Episode 2. They move away from Milwaukee and into Manhattan. Location changes are a classic "Jump the shark" moment, and I'm really looking forward to it.

It's the Flintstones! They're a modern stone-age family! And we're a modern show that reviews stone-age television, so this was kind of an inevitable match up. Travis takes us all the way back to Bedrock to take a look at the first animated prime time sitcom. In this "Jumping the Shark" episode, Travis has gone with the old TV trope of introducing a new character when the writers weren't entirely sure what to do. That character in this instance is The Great Gazoo! The alien with unexplained magical powers who drops into the lives of the main characters and opens up a world of ... interesting plot points.

Next time, Audie is going to take us to outer reaches of space with Star Trek! Yes, the original series.

Hey friends! Stephen came down with Covid over the weekend and we aren't having a show this week. However, we don't want to leave you with nothing to listen to! So we're throwing you back to episode 10. Wecovered the Muppet Show! It was a good one and we think you'll enjoy it.

Next week, we'll kick off our "Jumping the Shark" theme.

First up, Travis is going to take us on a journey all about The Flintstones! Was the Great Gazoo a jump the shark moment? Let's decide together!

What better way to end a spin-off episode than a spin-off of one of our greatest reviewed shows so far! On this episode we reviewed Empty Nest! What did we think of this, and would we watch more? You'll find out on this episode of Those Were The Days!

Next week, we're kicking off "Jumping the Shark" month! We'll take a look at episodes of classic TV that were just so left field, that people wondered if they'd just run out of ideas. Each of us will be taking on our own interpretation of what "jumping the shark" really means, so look forward to some wild choices.

Is Green Acres the place to be? What does happen at an old rural post office? You're about to find out! We had a great time re-watching this classic show that has one of the most memorable theme songs in the history of television. There's more to it than just a theme song though. This show was full of a wonderful collection of characters, most of which show up in this episode! We hope you enjoy it!

Next week, Amy is taking us back to the Golden Girls universe with Empty Nest - S1E1! Watch it on Youtube and let us know what you think @thosedaysshow on twitter or [email protected]

When we started this show, we wanted to explore our whether classic TV still translates to our own modern sensibilities. We knew eventually we would hit a show that just misses the mark for, well, almost every modern standard we have for decency. This was a trip, ya'll. Sit back and enjoy!

Next week, we're watching Green Acres - S4E8 - Old Mail Day! You can find this one on YouTube.

See you then!
