When we were kids, there was a common phrase that would fly around anytime a smart kid was around: "They're a Doogie Howser." Well, this week we tackle the origin of that phrase, Doogie Howser, MD! This show came out in 1989 thanks to test audiences who asked for it. The network had no desire to pursue a show about a child doctor, but they couldn't turn down a populace that wanted it. So here we are, over 30 years later talking about the first episode of this show.

Next time we are tackling a brand new theme: Saturday Morning Cartoons! Travis is going to kick us off with Garfield and Friends! We're watching Season 4, Episode 4. Follow the link below to watch it on Tubi.tv for free.

On this episode, our retronauts take a look at The Greatest American Hero. A sci-fi/superhero comedy/drama thing from the early 1980's. This episode was a feature length pilot that was more of a TV movie than a regular show, and it certainly used its runtime to the fullest. Enjoy the show!

Hosted by Audie Norman

Next week, Stephen takes us on an another superhero adventure. This time with Batman 1966! When the Dark Knight wasn't so dark at all. Find that episode on tubi.tv at https://tubitv.com/tv-shows/636833/s01-e01-hi-diddle-riddle

On this episode, the nostalgianauts review the very first episode of Alf! For those who have no idea, Alf was a show about an alien that crash lands in a family's garage and immediately starts causing all kinds of sitcom appropriate trouble. This episode is wonderfully hosted by TVsTravis as he regales us with tales about his fond memories of watching Alf. We also chat a bit about the final episodes of Alf, the difficult TV shoot, what it's like to watch an 80's show after years away, and whether we want to watch another one.

Next week, Audie has us tackling the very first episode of The Greatest American Hero! The pilot is available for free with ads on IMDB.tv. Watch it before the show and give us your feedback!

See you next time.

In our very first episode of the show, we take you on a journey of who we are and why we want to talk about classic TV. Amy, Audie, Travis and Stephen tell the tale of why they watch old TV in the first place, and what makes it special to them. There's a whole lot of excitement about where we're going with this new show and we're so happy to have you along for the ride.

This month is all about pilot episodes. Your homework, should you choose to join us, is to watch the very first episode of 80's sitcom "Alf!"

The first episode is available to watch for free with ads on IMDB.tv and Tubi.tv

Show synopsis:
"A furry alien wiseguy comes to live with the Tanner family after crashing into their garage."
