Isaiah 40:31 NIV

"But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."

I've always loved the idea of being a runner. I often wondered what it must be like to wake before the rest of the world and step out into a cool, foggy morning with the sole purpose of running. I've never experienced what that cool air must feel like as it floods into your lungs. How your muscles must grow weak, yet you push on.

I'm more of a walking type of girl.

As I was reading the above verse, what stood out to me was the progression from soaring, running, and then walking. I spent a few moments reflecting on my walk with God, and how it has been filled with many highs and many lows. One important lesson I have learned along the way is that seasons change, and with that, my relationship with God may look a little different in each season.

To explain further, there are times when I feel as though I can soar to the mountaintop. I feel victorious, alive, and passionate about the things of God. There are other times when I have the strength to run, still maintaining a steady pace as I pursue God and His plan for my life. Then there are seasons when I have slowed to a moderate walk, when life knocks the wind out of me and I'm holding tightly onto His hand for strength and guidance. There may even be times when I am forced to crawl through the dust and dirt just so I can reach a hand up and grip the hem of His garment.

The God we serve is not bound by seasons, and He will always remain faithful as we navigate the bumpy path of life. He is constant and steady even in the midst of the chaos of this world. He has stood firm throughout the generations and as Psalms 90:2 says "Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God."

God sees you where you are today and He will remain as close as the mention of His name.
