Seven spiritual blessings we have in Ephesians chapter one.

In the first chapter of this book, we find seven spiritual blessings we have in Christ. What a blessing it is to know we are holy in the eyes of God, that we are adopted into the family of God, that we have been redeemed by the blood of Jesus, and so much more!

These are spiritual blessings a child of God has now. We will receive our physical blessings, such as a new body and home in heaven, when Christ comes to take us home to heaven.

This episode looks at the history of Ephesus and the overview of the book of Ephesians. Later in this series, we will look at several sermons found in this book. I believe it will be a help and encouragement to you!

Last week looked at the Victory in the life of the believer. Today we will look at the fourth message found in this book.

We will look at our Lord Jesus Christ in the book of Philippians. Some of this will be similar to what we have already looked at but much of will be new.

We are going to look at Christ our life, Christ our example, Christ our righteousness, and Christ our rejoicing. 

Last week looked at the Mind of the Believer in the book of Philippians. Today we will look at the third message from a series of messages found in this book.

Let’s look at Victory in the Life of the Believer.

The book of Philippians is one of the most positive, joyful books of the Bible. It makes it clear that God desires His children to live in victory with joy—while they are still here on earth.

Let’s read two verses from the Bible about victory before we look at the book of Philippians.

1Co 15:57  But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

1Co 15:58  Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord. 

1Jn 5:4  For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

Notice, this victory is present tense, we can have it right now and not wait for it until we get to heaven!

Today let’s look at the Mind of the Believer. 

Our mind is very important. It is where we think, dream, plan, and ultimately decide to do or not to do something. It is also used in the Bible to show where are desires and direction are going. We need to guard our minds, strengthen our minds in the right areas, and use our minds for the glory of God.

We are told to love God will all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. Our heart is where our desires lay, our soul is who we really are and what will live forever, our mind is where we make our decisions and think, and our strength is where we act out what is in our heart and mind.

Mar 12:30  And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

There are many good messages or sermons in the book of Philippians. The book of Philippians is one of the most positive and joyful books of the Bible. The word sin never occurs in the book and Paul never rebukes them sharply. The key word in the book is joy or rejoicing. You have joy by not sinning!

So today we will look at the first of about 4 or 5 messages found in this book.

Today, we will look at the believer’s purpose, pattern, prize, and provision. 

Today I want to talk about faith, fact, and feeling in regard to salvation.

All people have faith in something. All people know certain facts. And all people have feelings about something. The same is true regarding the salvation and the eternal destiny of a person’s soul.

Faith, fact, and feeling are different. Many Christians and non-Christians alike get confused concerning these three things.

We must be sure that we have put out faith and trust in the correct facts found in the Bible. The feelings of peace, joy, and confidence will come when we rest in Him and have a close fellowship with Him.

The rapture, or catching away of the church is a great doctrine that we need to hear about often. Our Saviour coming back for us is one of our greatest hopes and comforts.

In John 14 the disciples were sad when Jesus told them he must go away. At that time they did not understand what he was about to do. But Jesus told them he would go back to the Father, prepare a place for them, and one day return to take them home.

Joh 14:1-3  Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

What a great blessing it will be to be home with our Saviour.

Today let’s look at this great doctrine in detail. My goal is to encourage you and give you hope and comfort with this study.

Today, I want us to look at healing and miracles in 1 Corinthians 12:8-11.

Several of the gifts found in 1 Corinthians 12 are still in effect today but others are not, specifically, the gifts of healing, miracles, speaking in tongues, and interpretation of tongues. These four gifts were given as a sign to unbelievers, not believers (children of God). Who requires such signs? The Jews, not the Gentiles.

1Co 1:22  For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:

God can still heal and perform miracles today but, individual people do not have the gift of healing or miracles. These gifts were a sign for the Jews and are not active today.

This week I want to look at the gift of tongues. What is this gift? Can a person have the gift of tongues today? I will try to answer those questions today.

Tongues in the Bible are a spoken language. They were given as a sign to unbelievers and Israel during the early church, and they ceased after a time.

1Co 14:22  Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophesying serveth not for them that believe not, but for them which believe.
