Thoughts on a Run

Ever tried doing a tailwhip on a Razor scooter? Neither. Some say, “think of the children!” Hannah says, “think about your ankles!” as she serves some tip top chat on the benefits of high-top and low-top shoes. Missy takes things to new heights as she gets into the legend and lore of the Tower of London ravens. P.s. Hannah possibly does some of the best singing she’s ever done on the pod.

Yah girls went bananas at Round the Bridges and got some good numbers for the 12km race. Best mate Hannah Mooney even got a personal best! First up and fresh off the course, Hannah’s “just gonna talk about bananas” while Missy has a wee bit of a chat about the bridges of Kirikiriroa Hamilton (topical). We have some reflections, a bunch of laughs, Missy throws shade at Hannah’s ‘fun facts’, and of course we sing the songs that no one asked for.

What do Hannah falling over and the hit late-90s children’s tv show Teletubbies have in common? They’re both trippy! This week we really raise(in) the bar as Hannah regales us with the harrowing tale of the recent tumble she took while out for a run. While raisins, sultanas, and currents are dried grapes, Hannah’s chat is far from dry as she gives a quick rundown (or should I say runner down) on the difference between the fruits. And goodness grapeness does Missy have a blast delving into the psychedelic wonderland that is Teletubbies.

Will-o-the-wisp is latin for ‘foolish flame’ and your fave fools and twin flames are back at it. In this gourd-geous episode Missy gets pumped about pumpkins as she lights the way through the history of Jack-o’-lanterns. Hannah gets going on the true MVP of our time: the humble traffic light drink. Served with a side of too many Sound of Music references.

Rock, paper, scissors. Scissors, paper, stone - however you wanna say it, we’re down to play it. Hannah gives the 1,2,3 on the history of paper, scissors, rock. Speaking of rock, Missy gets down with everyone’s favourite slab (the Rosetta Stone) as she barely scratches the surface on ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics. Served with a side of Jacket Potato chat that no one asked for and Missy would like to formally apologise for saying “gee whizzy my shizzy.”

Sneeze safety is no joke but this podcast sure is. Missy has a corking good time waffling on about messages in bottles. Hannah puts the rock and roll in Rolling Stone as she tries (and fails several times) to correctly say ‘Rolling Stone’s The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time’. Feat some singing and SO MANY side bars! Moo deng, sneezing, historic royals, and potatoes, what more do you want from us?

Listen up kids - whether you’re a fighter, flighter, freezer, fawner, filmer or faller, this week’s episode of Thoughts on a Run has got something for you! Hannah gets into the nooks and crannies of jump scares and startle responses. Missy makes a 90 degree turn and lays out the parallel and perpendicular past of knolling (your favourite Instagram trend that you’ve never heard of).

Shiver me jinkies! Your scallywag besties are back. Missy gets down into the deep, dark, briny depths of shipwrecks. Hannah gets the collywobbles and gives a shimmy for the shammy as she dives into the origin of why divers use shammy cloths.

And yes, every time we say ‘ship’ it sounds like ‘s**t’...perhaps it’s funnier that way? Anyway, make sure to pop your ‘p’s kids.

Is that a fresh snag sizzling on the barby or is Missy wearing a smelly top? (Spoiler alert, it’s Missy). This episode is a banger.
