Thoughts on a Run

We’re not gigglers, but this week may get you hissing and hawing. Missy is calendar correct and Hannah has an eclipse of moths in her tum. After what seems like 100s and 1000s of incorrect guesses, Hannah serves up some tasty chit chat on the classic Kiwi Xmas gift that is the Griffins Sampler Biscuit Box. Fun fact, not all biscuits can live together (looking at you pongy peppermint). Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s a Charazard. That’s right folks, this is the Pokémon Go episode. Missy does not ‘catch em all’ but she does hatch some ballin’ Pokémon kōrero. Remember, repetition always makes the joke funnier (jk, it frequently doesn’t).

Missy makes a big hoohah celebrating her 50th parkrun. You can run it, you can walk it, you can jog it. No one cares how fast you go and you’ll never be last! This week you get the origin story and evolution of UK Time Trials into the Parkrun events we know and love today. Hannah refuses to use her twin magic and is at the end of her rope, jump rope that is as she gives the double on skipping. As humans we like routine, and we like belonging. So, be like Jorothan, stop playing with the mat, join the TOAR community and whip this in your ear holes.

This week, it’s silly sausage energy and giggles out the gate, but “we’re not here for assumptions, we’re here for cold hard facts.” Twinning and winning as Hannah and Missy both guess one another's thoughts! (what are the odds?!?!, pretty high tbh). Hannah does a sheet job addressing the top-sheet or not-to-top-sheet debate, it’s tip top. Missy raises the bar as she sprints, bends, twists and lands some soaring pole vault chat. Change your sheets and plant, jam, and convert our energy in your ear holes.

Off to a singing start this week with a simple yet important PSA out the gate - if you run, you’re a runner, no other criteria required! When is a podcast not a podcast? When it’s a talking book. Missy narrates the long and the short of the Audiobook, it’s a real page turner. In chapter 2 of this episode, Hannah regales us with some flapping, fun, flag-tastic facts (when she’s not tooting all over town). National flags are part of the essential fabric of the Commonwealth Games and this pod raises some solid chat. Hoist it in ya ear holes, athlits.

Hannah thinks she’s all good and Missy has doubts. It hasn’t all gone to custard, but we do get in a pickle and make a racket about racquet sports. Hannah smashes, serves, and fizzes through some chat about one of the world’s fastest growing sports; the glorious game of Pickleball! Missy reaches new heights (approx 10,000m of elevation) and traverses 3 countries as she tackles the mythic ultramarathon trail race that is the flagship UTMB. She’ll be coming ‘round the mountain when she comes - yeehaw!

Grab a banana and prepare to hear the word ‘pickle’ too many times.

This week, we’re good as gold and the yaps go this way, that way, forwards and backwards over the briny sea. Missy sails through some shipwreck history as she gives the goss on the sinking of The General Grant in 1866, served with a side of lost gold. Hannah bags some insulating chat as she snuggles down and zips through the origin of the sleeping bag. Don’t be a disappointing island…Hannah makes the time to do something embarrassing, so you can make the time to sink, stuff, and roll this neatly in your ear holes.

Your dusty, creaky, old knackered knickered besties are back. Hannah puts the babe in chillblains with some crisp convo on the cause and possible prevention methods. It’s time to chill out (literally) on the lava showers tīma. There’s nothing basic about Missy’s BASE jumping chat. Prepare to leap from new heights as she tries to explain the ins and outs (and ups and downs) of terminal velocity. Whether you’re curly fry or are a crinkle cut, get your tum towards the earth and whack this in ya ear holes!

Your fave twits are back with the usual ridiculous yaps. Chill-tastic is not good, and we don’t care about your star sign. Missy Dahl’s in some scrumdiddlyumptious chat about the lofty, literary legend, and BFG of storytelling, Roald Dahl. Hannah slides into the DMs and shimmies up some scintillating flibber flabber about the iconic Firefighters’ pole. Name a more fun means of emergency transport - we’ll wait. Missy’s got her snazzy, zazzy pants on so slide this in your ear holes and hold on to the pole.

Running is going as per and there’s a lot of singing out the gate. Hannah is short and sweet with some delectable discussion of perhaps the only thing more enchanting than Disneyland. It’s time for the tip-top street eat, sweet treat known as Dole Whip! Missy turns her mind to a ‘Roman Empire’ thought for many, and it’s a very cool one. Things get strange, wild, and trippy as we try and decipher the mystery of the Voynich Manuscript. Unfortunately, even the Rosetta Stone can’t help us.

Is there anything more joyous than a good run? Sure is - it’s this podcast. Missy money is coming in hot with a big swing all about the cha-ching as she deposits come currency convo and banks a solid thought.
