After talking about Hodge and Hebrews in their last episode, the guys get the itch to dig further into this rich book (You can even hear the Bible pages turning on this episode!). So they look at Hebrews 8:5, where it says that the tabernacle was a copy, shadow, and pattern of heavenly things. How does this Old Testament structure reveal heaven to us and inform New Testament worship?
The 3GTers discuss how the tabernacle serves like a glorified children’s sermon. From the three overarching truths it communicated down to the details of its furnishings, the guys take you on a walking tour of sorts of the tabernacle. Along the way, you will learn how the imagery of the tabernacle provides heavenly truth to the church that describes wonderfully our life in Christ.
So hit the play button, close your eyes (unless you’re driving!), and meditate along with the guys on this latest episode of 3GT!

Deep within the bowels of the library of Princeton Seminary, with his Indiana Jones fedora firmly upon his brow, Dr. Bill VanDoodewaard pulled out yet another archival box. He blew the dust off and lifted the top. Underneath the glow of the singular light bulb hanging above, his eyes widened. His trembling hands reached in and pulled out the treasured manuscript that had lain dormant for decades. Hearing a noise, he glanced furtively around to make sure no one else was watching him. Assured he was alone, the doctor’s gaze returned to the papers and his lips began moving silently as he read…
Well, it did not happen quite like that. But almost! For Bill VanDoodewaard, Professor of Church History at Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary, did discover Charles Hodge’s exegetical notes and sermons on Hebrews. So the 3GTers, good friends with the good doctor, invited him on the podcast to tell the story that led to Banner of Truth publishing Hodge’s Exegetical Lectures and Sermons on Hebrews. We learn about Charles Hodge, his ministry, the process Bill undertook in editing the book, some of Hodge’s insights into Hebrews, and how he taught and preached its glorious truths.
So listen and discover along with us this fascinating story and wonderful resource for the church! And learn how you could possibly win a free copy of the treasured manuscript!

The guys are constantly scanning the evangelical landscape, embracing the Biblical and questioning the suspect. As their eyes settle on what is known as the “Gospel-Centered” movement, with everything from preaching to budgeting being labeled such, they discuss its positive and negative effects.
They applaud the movement’s emphasis on Christ, justification, and putting the indicative before the imperative. But they also express concern over its many proponents who try to slap this label on everything while shying away from such things as the law of God in the believer’s life and sanctification. They consider other labels that might be more full-bodied, such as Christ-centered, Trinity-centered, and kingdom-centered. At the end, they just sigh a bit and remain thankful they are confessional.

Renovations taking place at the seminary has the president thinking. Should Christians spend time and resources beautifying buildings? What is the place of beauty in the Christian life? Is pursuing it in this perishing world just polishing the brass on a sinking ship?
So he theologizes with his virtual pastor and parishioner. The 3GTers discuss the place of beauty in the Christian life, its subjective and objective components, its connection with the glory of God, the purpose beauty has in this world, and its application in a variety of settings. They end reflecting on the subject of fading beauty and its call to look to the glorious beauty of heaven that yet awaits us. And along the way they have some typical fun at each other’s expense!
So join along with the guys and bring a little beauty into your life with this episode of 3GT!
