  • Thrive Perspectives: Politically Correct

On this episode Matthew and DJ tackle a topic that keeps popping it's head up in peoples questions: "Political Correctness".

You can read the full wikipedia entry on the phrase here. It includes: "Political correctness (adjectivally: politically correct; commonly abbreviated PC) is a term used to describe language, policies, or measures that are intended to avoid offense or disadvantage to members of particular groups in society. In public discourse and the media, the term is generally used as a pejorative with an implication that these policies are excessive or unwarranted. Since the late 1980s, the term has been used to describe a preference for inclusive language and avoidance of language or behavior that can be seen as excluding, marginalizing, or insulting to groups of people disadvantaged or discriminated against, particularly groups defined by ethnicity, sex, or gender."

Matthew mentions the book "The Poisonwood Bible" by Barbara Kingsolver.

DJ mentions the satarical musical "The Book Of Mormon" by South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone.

OPINONS! We all have them... but what do we do with very strong convictions about events and stories that are happening around us? More importantly, what about a friend or loved one has very different opinons and convictions? Can we love someone who believes in "conspiracy theories"? Can we fellowship with someone who believes the "mainstream narratives"?

Matthew and DJ walk through this very sensative and divisive subject on this episode of Thrive Perspectives. Please get in touch and tell us your thoughts, feedback or questions on our website here: https://thrivetoday.tv/contact/

  • Thrive Perspectives: When Celebrity Leaders Fall

Today we are talking about a topic that has rocked a lot of good people.

    We talk about Ravi Zacharias.

The reporting by Christianity Today has been really exhaustive.
Ravi's ministry has released a very honest and complete statement.
Christian leaders respond to Ravi here.

We also talk about Hillsong New York Pop Pastor Carl Lentz.

His sexual sin and fall from ministry.
Carl was always controversial and popular with the world.

This is a very honest discussion about how do we respond when people like this fall away.
