Today we will look at an event that took place in Abraham's life where God asked him to sacrifice his son, the one God had miraculously provided.The son who God had said that through him your off spring will be like the stars in the sky. Abraham was able to remember that God is good, faithful and supplies ours needs as he was walking this out. He didn't know how this was going to work out as it didn't make any sense to him. Yet he was willing to be faithful even in the unknown. What can we learn as each of us walks through those time? What is it that you are not willing to give up totally to God?

Today we will look at Joshua and the way he was prepared for the calling that he would be called to later in life. Like most of us, he wasn't looking for the position he was to be called to later in life. Looking back on his life, we can see how he was shaped into being the leader he was to become. A major component of Joshua's preparation was to trust that God would do what He said He would do. What can we learn from his experiences, life, that can help us develop into what God has for us to be? Do we trust God's faithfulness even when we see giants in the land? Let's see what we can learn from him today.

This weekend, we continue in our series "Risk Takers" in looking at the life of Moses...again! We focus in on when the Lord delivered the Israelites from Egypt, specifically when He parted the sea in front of them. We grow together in learning how we need to be still, take heart, and remain calm -- allowing the Lord to fight for us.

When God calls us, we trust Him and say yes to following Him wherever He leads! Phillip was a man that the Lord used in mighty and powerful ways. We even learn that sometimes, we may be the answer to someone else's prayers...that God sets it up.

Today we will look at Moses's early life and the call God placed on him. It was a daunting task that had huge risk for him personally. So how did he overcome these obstacles that he saw in his life, things that he thought should have disqualified him? Let's see what we can learn from his life that can help us overcome our own issues with the call God has placed on our life.

We will look into the life of Jonah today and see where he struggled to be a risk taker for God. Jonah made the choice to not follow God's plan, not because he feared the people of Nineveh, but because he didn't like the people of Nineveh. Jonah's desire was to see them completely destroyed. We don't know the exact reason for this, but we can apply the same concept to our own lives. Are there people we don't want to see God's mercy given to them? Let's dive into this story and see if there are any similarities to our own life. This is a great example of how bitterness can affect not only our lives, but the lives of those around us.

Today we are looking at each of us as risk takers. Everyday we have choices to follow God's plan for our lives. Sometimes those "risk" are small, other times they require much risk. When we can stay focused on the fact God is the one who has spoken to us, then the "risk" factor is reduced when you know He is with you and it is His plan.

Today we are introduced to Rahab from Joshua 2. We have a woman who was not a Jew, but who feared the God of the Israelites. She was aware that they were coming and instead of attacking them or turning in the spies, she chose to help them hide. In return she and any of her family who stay in her house would be spared when Jericho was taken. She is also mentioned in Hebrews 11 as a hero of Faith. She again reminds us to not allow our past determine our future. It isn't about what I can do, but what God can do through me inspite of my past choices.
