  • GOOD NEWS: Just Trust | Judah Thomas

Faith is being __________________ that something is __________________.

[Hebrews 11:1 NIV] Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.

Faith is the most __________________ force known to man.

Every great achievement __________________ with someone who __________________ that it could happen.

[Matthew 17:20] "You don't have enough faith," Jesus told them. "I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it would move. Nothing would be impossible."

Mountains only move when people believe it is __________________.

[2 Corinthians 5:7 NIV] For we live by faith, not by sight.

We are to be people of __________________ not people of __________________.

[Romans 4:1-3] Abraham was, humanly speaking, the founder of our Jewish nation. What did he discover about being made right with God? [2] If his good deeds had made him acceptable to God, he would have had something to boast about. But that was not God's way. [3] For the Scriptures tell us, "Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous because of his faith."

We are made __________________ with God when we __________________ in Him.

Faith that doesn't change my __________________ cannot change my __________________.

[Hebrews 11:6] And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.

A ____________________ with God starts simply with trust.

[Romans 10:9-10] If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. [10] For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved.

  • GOOD NEWS: Only Jesus | Judah Thomas

Jesus came to be the _____________________ to our sin.

[John 14:4-6] And you know the way to where I am going." [5] "No, we don't know, Lord," Thomas said. "We have no idea where you are going, so how can we know the way?" [6] Jesus told him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.

Jesus is not ________________ way to God; He is the _______________ way.

[John 1:29] The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, "Look! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!

Only Jesus can make us _____________________ with God.

[1 Timothy 2:5-6] For there is only one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity--the man Christ Jesus. [6] He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone. This is the message God gave to the world at just the right time.

Jesus didn't point to ___________________, He pointed to Himself.

    Jesus offers freedom to _____________________.

[Hebrews 9:11-12] So Christ has now become the High Priest over all the good things that have come. He has entered that greater, more perfect Tabernacle in heaven, which was not made by human hands and is not part of this created world. [12] With his own blood--not the blood of goats and calves--he entered the Most Holy Place once for all time and secured our redemption forever.

Jesus' _____________________ made it possible for us to be made right with God.

[Romans 6:23] For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.

Jesus offers us a new _____________________, a new _____________________, and a new hope.

[2 Corinthians 5:17] This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!

Jesus invites everyone to follow him. Being a sinner is a prerequisite. Having doubts is a prerequisite. That's because we're all sinners and we all have doubts.

Following Jesus results in overwhelming faith, but at times it can also be inconvenient, costly, and even embarrassing. It can cause us to miss opportunities, lose business, or stand out in the crowd when we'd rather fit in. Even Jesus' earliest followers wrestled with this tension. But one of his disciples asked a question that put everything in perspective: "To whom shall I go?"

  • GOOD NEWS: Sin Separates | Judah Thomas

We aren’t ___________________ people; we are all guilty of sin.

[Romans 3:23] For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God's glorious standard.

None of us can ___________________ up to God's standard.

[Romans 6:23a] For the wages of sin is death...

Spiritual ___________________ is us being separated from God.

[1 John 1:8] If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth.

Jesus didn't talk about sin to ___________________ people but to ___________________ them.

[Matthew 5:20-22, 27-28] "But I warn you--unless your righteousness is better than the righteousness of the teachers of religious law and the Pharisees, you will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven! [21] "You have heard that our ancestors were told, 'You must not murder. If you commit murder, you are subject to judgment.' [22] But I say, if you are even angry with someone, you are subject to judgment! If you call someone an idiot, you are in danger of being brought before the court. And if you curse someone, you are in danger of the fires of hell. ... [27] "You have heard the commandment that says, 'You must not commit adultery.' [28] But I say, anyone who even looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

Jesus came to ___________________ the sinners.

    God loves ___________________ up people.

[Romans 3:23-24] For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God's glorious standard. [24] Yet God, with undeserved kindness, declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins.

Only God can ___________________ our sin.

[1 John 1:9] But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.

Most of us don't become Christians with the intent of following Jesus. We become Christians because we are told obedience pays and disobedience doesn't. We become Christians hoping that spirituality will fill the holes in our souls. We become Christians hoping God will fix us. Eventually, our agendas clash with Jesus' agenda, and we have to decide whether we'll abandon him or follow.

  • GOOD NEWS: God Loves You | Judah Thomas

The ____________________ is the Good News that we have victory through Jesus.

[Romans 1:16-17] For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes--the Jew first and also the Gentile. [17] This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, "It is through faith that a righteous person has life."

Every person was created to be ____________________ and ____________________.

God loves you because He ____________________ to.

[1 John 4:16] We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them.

God doesn't love you because of who _____________ _________, He loves you because of who ______________.

Our ___________________ does not make God love us less.

[Ephesians 3:18-19] And may you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. [19] May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

God knows ____________________ about us and He still loves us.

[Romans 5:8] But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.

Your ____________________ do not change your ____________________ to God.

[Romans 8:38-39] And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God's love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow--not even the powers of hell can separate us from God's love. [39] No power in the sky above or in the earth below--indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

During his time on earth, Jesus invited misbehavers and unbelievers to follow him. We are all invited to follow him. You are invited to follow him, but there's something you need to know about following Jesus. It will cost you something eventually.

It may cost you money, career advancement, or even relationships. That's because Jesus offers us the choice of denying ourselves now or losing ourselves later. But you'll find that when you pay the price for following Jesus, you'll be glad you did.

  • WAIT FOR IT: Not Gonna Wait | Judah Thomas

Patience is the ability to endure hardships and challenges without _____________________.

[1 Samuel 10:1] Then Samuel took a flask of olive oil and poured it over Saul's head. He kissed Saul and said, "I am doing this because the LORD has appointed you to be the ruler over Israel, his special possession.

[1 Samuel 10:9-12] As Saul turned and started to leave, God gave him a new heart, and all Samuel's signs were fulfilled that day. [10] When Saul and his servant arrived at Gibeah, they saw a group of prophets coming toward them. Then the Spirit of God came powerfully upon Saul, and he, too, began to prophesy. [11] When those who knew Saul heard about it, they exclaimed, "What? Is even Saul a prophet? How did the son of Kish become a prophet?" [12] And one of those standing there said, "Can anyone become a prophet, no matter who his father is?" So that is the origin of the saying "Is even Saul a prophet?"

God always wants to _____________________ more through us than we ever could on our own.

Our God is a God of new _____________________.

[1 Samuel 13:7-12] Some of them crossed the Jordan River and escaped into the land of Gad and Gilead. Meanwhile, Saul stayed at Gilgal, and his men were trembling with fear. [8] Saul waited there seven days for Samuel, as Samuel had instructed him earlier, but Samuel still didn't come. Saul realized that his troops were rapidly slipping away. [9] So he demanded, "Bring me the burnt offering and the peace offerings!" And Saul sacrificed the burnt offering himself. [10] Just as Saul was finishing with the burnt offering, Samuel arrived. Saul went out to meet and welcome him, [11] but Samuel said, "What is this you have done?" Saul replied, "I saw my men scattering from me, and you didn't arrive when you said you would, and the Philistines are at Micmash ready for battle. [12] So I said, 'The Philistines are ready to march against us at Gilgal, and I haven't even asked for the LORD's help!' So I felt compelled to offer the burnt offering myself before you came."

We need to put our eyes on ____________ not on the _____________________.

There is always a great _____________________ for those who wait on God.

[1 Samuel 13:13-14] "How foolish!" Samuel exclaimed. "You have not kept the command the LORD your God gave you. Had you kept it, the LORD would have established your kingdom over Israel forever. [14] But now your kingdom must end, for the LORD has sought out a man after his own heart. The LORD has already appointed him to be the leader of his people, because you have not kept the LORD's command."

    Impatience often leads to _____________________.

[Galatians 6:9] So let's not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don't give up.

Religion says, Change and you can join us. Jesus says, Join us and you will change. There's a huge difference. Jesus doesn't expect you to be perfect. He just wants you to follow him. Being a sinner doesn't disqualify you from following him. Being an unbeliever doesn't disqualify you from following him. In fact, following almost always begins with a sinner taking one small step.
