  • WAIT FOR IT: On God's Timeline | Judah Thomas

Timelines don't matter when you are ___________________ God.

[1 Samuel 16:6-13] When they arrived, Samuel took one look at Eliab and thought, "Surely this is the LORD's anointed!" [7] But the LORD said to Samuel, "Don't judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The LORD doesn't see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart." [8] Then Jesse told his son Abinadab to step forward and walk in front of Samuel. But Samuel said, "This is not the one the LORD has chosen." [9] Next Jesse summoned Shimea, but Samuel said, "Neither is this the one the LORD has chosen." [10] In the same way all seven of Jesse's sons were presented to Samuel. But Samuel said to Jesse, "The LORD has not chosen any of these." [11] Then Samuel asked, "Are these all the sons you have?" "There is still the youngest," Jesse replied. "But he's out in the fields watching the sheep and goats." "Send for him at once," Samuel said. "We will not sit down to eat until he arrives." [12] So Jesse sent for him. He was dark and handsome, with beautiful eyes. And the LORD said, "This is the one; anoint him." [13] So as David stood there among his brothers, Samuel took the flask of olive oil he had brought and anointed David with the oil. And the Spirit of the LORD came powerfully upon David from that day on. Then Samuel returned to Ramah.

Being ___________________ in the small things will often lead to being ___________________ in the big things.

[1 Samuel 24:3-4] At the place where the road passes some sheepfolds, Saul went into a cave to relieve himself. But as it happened, David and his men were hiding farther back in that very cave! [4] "Now's your opportunity!" David's men whispered to him. "Today the LORD is telling you, 'I will certainly put your enemy into your power, to do with as you wish.'" So David crept forward and cut off a piece of the hem of Saul's robe.

Patience is letting ______________ be ______________.

If God wants ___________________ to happen then He will make it happen.

[Psalm 31:14-16] But I am trusting you, O LORD, saying, "You are my God!" [15] My future is in your hands. Rescue me from those who hunt me down relentlessly. [16] Let your favor shine on your servant. In your unfailing love, rescue me.

We may be in such a ___________________ that we ___________________ God's blessing.

Lack of patience leads to ___________________.

[Psalm 37:7-8] Be still in the presence of the LORD, and wait patiently for him to act. Don't worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes. [8] Stop being angry! Turn from your rage! Do not lose your temper--it only leads to harm.

Everyone is invited to follow Jesus. Being a sinner doesn't disqualify you. Being a doubter doesn't disqualify you. The goal of following Jesus is a faith that overcomes our fear of the future or our current circumstances. It's a faith that gives us peace.

But what do people who follow Jesus look like? What do they wear?

  • WAIT FOR IT: I'll Do It My Way | Judah Thomas

Patience is doing something __________________ for a long period of time.

[Genesis 12:1-4] The LORD had said to Abram, "Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father's family, and go to the land that I will show you. [2] I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others. [3] I will bless those who bless you and curse those who treat you with contempt. All the families on earth will be blessed through you." [4] So Abram departed as the LORD had instructed, and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he left Haran.

God is never in a __________________.

[Galatians 4:22-23] The Scriptures say that Abraham had two sons, one from his slave wife and one from his freeborn wife. [23] The son of the slave wife was born in a human attempt to bring about the fulfillment of God's promise. But the son of the freeborn wife was born as God's own fulfillment of his promise.

Patience and __________________ go hand in hand.

[Hebrews 6:12 NIV] We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.

God is using your __________________ to shape you.

God is shaping you while you are _________________.

[Romans 8:25] But if we look forward to something we don't yet have, we must wait patiently and confidently.)

We may be concerned with an __________________ but God is concerned with __________________.

[Philippians 1:6] And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.

Jesus says to pray. Jesus says not to look over there. Jesus says to be nice. Jesus says to get up early and read your Bible. Lots of people think Christianity is all about doing what Jesus says. But what if doing what Jesus says isn't what Jesus says to do at all? Regardless of what you believe. Regardless of how you behave. Jesus invites you to follow him.

  • WAIT FOR IT: Patience Through Wandering | Matt Karlak

Many times, when you are going through difficulty, greater difficulty will come before ____________.

[Exodus 6:6-8] I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will deliver you from slavery to them, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and great acts of judgment.  I will take you to be my people and I will be your God, and you shall know that I am the LORD your God, who had brought you out from under the burden of the Egyptians.  I will bring you into the land that I swore to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.”

When you’re _________, God is working to set things up for your victory and his Glory!

    1. Moses ____________God
    2. Moses was ___________
    3. Moses __________ God
    4. Moses had __________ in God
    5. [Deuteronomy 29:5] During the forty years that I led you through the wilderness, your clothes did not wear out, nor did the sandals on your feet.

Patience is trusting that God will _______while he makes you trust Him more while he ________ on you while you wait for him to ________.

[James 1:2-8] My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.

    6. Brave: See it Through (July 19, 2015) | Judah Thomas

Life is full of uncertainty. Daily situations beyond our control put us at risk for disappointment, failure, and regret. For most of us, bravery is not about staring death in the eye, but finding courage to face the everyday pressure and anxieties life throws our way.

    7. SMALL STEPS: Think About It | Judah Thomas

[Psalm 1:1-3] Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers. [2] But they delight in the law of the LORD, meditating on it day and night. [3] They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.

We don't meditate to ________________ our thoughts; we do it to fill our thoughts with ________________.

[Joshua 1:7-8] Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, turning either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do. [8] Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.

God is promising ________________ and ________________ for those who meditate on Scripture.

Meditation is what transforms ________________ into ________________.

[Isaiah 26:3] You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!

The path to ________________ begins with fixing your ________________ on God.

What you meditate on is what ________________ you.

[Psalm 119:11, 14-15] I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you. ... [14] I have rejoiced in your laws as much as in riches. [15] I will study your commandments and reflect on your ways.

Memorizing Scripture gives ________________ to your soul.

[Hebrews 4:12] For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.

It's not what you ________________ but what you ________________ that matters.

    9. SMALL STEPS: Good Service | Judah Thomas

[John 13:34-35] So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. [35] Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples."

Serving others is a _________________ way to show _________________.

[Mark 10:42-44] So Jesus called them together and said, "You know that the rulers in this world lord it over their people, and officials flaunt their authority over those under them. [43] But among you it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant, [44] and whoever wants to be first among you must be the slave of everyone else.

      Greatness comes from _________________ others.

Pride says “serve _________________.” Humility says “serve _________________.”

[John 13:3-5, 12-15] Jesus knew that the Father had given him authority over everything and that he had come from God and would return to God. [4] So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, [5] and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples' feet, drying them with the towel he had around him. ... [12] After washing their feet, he put on his robe again and sat down and asked, "Do you understand what I was doing? [13] You call me 'Teacher' and 'Lord,' and you are right, because that's what I am. [14] And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other's feet. [15] I have given you an example to follow. Do as I have done to you.

Everyone _________________ out when you aren't using your _________________ for God's Kingdom.

[Romans 12:4-5] Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, [5] so it is with Christ's body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other.

Serving is a _________________ of our love for God.

We can accomplish _________________ _______________ when we work together.

      [Matthew 9:37-38]

He said to his disciples, "The harvest is great, but the workers are few. [38] So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields."
