  • GHOSTS OF CHRISTMAS: Hope For The Future | Judah Thomas

The world can't live without _______________.

[Romans 15:13] I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.

You can live with hope or you can live with _____________.

[Romans 8:24-25] We were given this hope when we were saved. (If we already have something, we don't need to hope for it. [25] But if we look forward to something we don't yet have, we must wait patiently and confidently.)

    Hope always requires _____________________.

[Matthew 1:19-21] Joseph, her fiancé, was a good man and did not want to disgrace her publicly, so he decided to break the engagement quietly. [20] As he considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. "Joseph, son of David," the angel said, "do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife. For the child within her was conceived by the Holy Spirit. [21] And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins."

We can have hope even when our _____________________ don't change.

Christmas reminds us that we can have hope in the _______________ _______________.

[Colossians 1:27 NIV] To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

My hope is in _________________ not _________________.

[John 3:16-17 NLT] [16] "For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. [17] God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.

  • GHOSTS OF CHRISTMAS: Joy for the Present | Judah Thomas

[Philippians 4:4] Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again--rejoice!

Happiness is ___________________ but joy comes from ___________________.

[Luke 1:28-31] Gabriel appeared to her and said, "Greetings, favored woman! The Lord is with you!" [29] Confused and disturbed, Mary tried to think what the angel could mean. [30] "Don't be afraid, Mary," the angel told her, "for you have found favor with God! [31] You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus.

[Luke 1:36-38] What's more, your relative Elizabeth has become pregnant in her old age! People used to say she was barren, but she has conceived a son and is now in her sixth month. [37] For nothing is impossible with God." [38] Mary responded, "I am the Lord's servant. May everything you have said about me come true." And then the angel left her.

Praising God in the middle of ___________________ times brings joy.

[Luke 1:46-48] Mary responded, "Oh, how my soul praises the Lord. [47] How my spirit rejoices in God my Savior! [48] For he took notice of his lowly servant girl, and from now on all generations will call me blessed.

Joy gives us the ___________________ we need.

[Nehemiah 8:10c] Don't be dejected and sad, for the joy of the LORD is your strength!"

    Don't let the _______________ _______________ your joy.

[Psalm 30:5] For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime! Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning.

Jesus is the ___________ _________ who can bring us joy.

[Luke 2:8-12] That night there were shepherds staying in the fields nearby, guarding their flocks of sheep. [9] Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared among them, and the radiance of the Lord's glory surrounded them. They were terrified, [10] but the angel reassured them. "Don't be afraid!" he said. "I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people. [11] The Savior--yes, the Messiah, the Lord--has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David! [12] And you will recognize him by this sign: You will find a baby wrapped snugly in strips of cloth, lying in a manger."

  • GHOSTS OF CHRISTMAS: Peace for the Past | Judah Thomas

[Isaiah 9:2] The people who walk in darkness will see a great light. For those who live in a land of deep darkness, a light will shine.

God came for those living in ___________________.

[Romans 3:23] For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God's glorious standard.

If Jesus hadn't come there would be no ________________.

Zechariah 3:1-5 CSB Then he showed me the high priest Joshua standing before the angel of the Lord, with Satan standing at his right side to accuse him. 2 The Lord said to Satan: “The Lord rebuke you, Satan! May the Lord who has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you! Isn’t this man a burning stick snatched from the fire?” 3 Now Joshua was dressed with filthy clothes as he stood before the angel. 4 So the angel of the Lord spoke to those standing before him, “Take off his filthy clothes!” Then he said to him, “See, I have removed your iniquity from you, and I will clothe you with festive robes.” 5 Then I said, “Let them put a clean turban on his head.” So a clean turban was placed on his head, and they clothed him in garments while the angel of the Lord was standing nearby.

God's forgiveness is more powerful than the ______________________ of the devil.

We are all ___________________ until made innocent.

[Isaiah 9:6-7a]  For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. [7] His government and its peace will never end.

Only the Prince of Peace can bring ___________________ in the middle of ___________________.

[Luke 1:78-79] Because of God’s tender mercy, the morning light from heaven is about to break upon us, 79 to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, and to guide us to the path of peace.”

Because of God's ___________________ we can experience peace.

God loves to use ___________________ people.

  • SCIENCE & THE BIBLE: From the Dust | Judah Thomas

Humans are ___________________ in the animal kingdom!

[Genesis 2:7] Then the LORD God formed the man from the dust of the ground. He breathed the breath of life into the man's nostrils, and the man became a living person.

Scientists have discovered that the human body is composed of ________ ___________________ all found in the earth.

[Genesis 2:21-22] So the LORD God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep. While the man slept, the LORD God took out one of the man's ribs and closed up the opening. [22] Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib, and he brought her to the man.

The only ___________________ capable of regenerating itself is the ___________________.

[Exodus 4:11] Then the LORD asked Moses, "Who makes a person's mouth? Who decides whether people speak or do not speak, hear or do not hear, see or do not see? Is it not I, the LORD?

Only God could create an organ as complex as an ___________________ or a ___________________.

[Proverbs 2:6] For the LORD grants wisdom! From his mouth come knowledge and understanding.

You cannot get ___________________ and ___________________ from randomness.

A single ___________________ contains all of the information required to create a human ________________.

The fact that you are here and a live is a _______________.

[Psalm 100:1-5] A psalm of thanksgiving. Shout with joy to the LORD, all the earth! [2] Worship the LORD with gladness. Come before him, singing with joy. [3] Acknowledge that the LORD is God! He made us, and we are his. We are his people, the sheep of his pasture. [4] Enter his gates with thanksgiving; go into his courts with praise. Give thanks to him and praise his name. [5] For the LORD is good. His unfailing love continues forever, and his faithfulness continues to each generation.
