  • SCIENCE & THE BIBLE: In the Beginning | Judah Thomas

    Believing something without __________________ is a __________________.

True __________________ helps us learn more about God and the universe that He created.

[Genesis 1:1-5] In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. [2] The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters. [3] Then God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. [4] And God saw that the light was good. Then he separated the light from the darkness. [5] God called the light "day" and the darkness "night." And evening passed and morning came, marking the first day.

The focal point of the Bible is __________________.

[Job 38:4-7] "Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell me, if you know so much. [5] Who determined its dimensions and stretched out the surveying line? [6] What supports its foundations, and who laid its cornerstone [7] as the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy?

Our universe is a precise __________________ that keeps perfect __________________.

[Hebrews 3:4] For every house has a builder, but the one who built everything is God.

It takes more faith to believe in a universe made by _______________ than one made by a __________________.

[Romans 1:20] For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.

Even claiming that there are laws in the universe demonstrates a need for a “__________________.”

[John 1:1-4] In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. [2] He existed in the beginning with God. [3] God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. [4] The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone.

Only God has the power to give something ________________.

[Ephesians 2:4-6] But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, [5] that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God's grace that you have been saved!) [6] For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus.

  • SCIENCE & THE BIBLE: Is Scripture Valid? | Judah Thomas

Science is simply a systematic pursuit of _______________.

It is impossible for men to write Scriptures without _______________ _______________.

God's Word will always stand test of _______________.

[Isaiah 40:22] God sits above the circle of the earth. The people below seem like grasshoppers to him! He spreads out the heavens like a curtain and makes his tent from them.

[Job 26:7-8] God stretches the northern sky over empty space and hangs the earth on nothing. [8] He wraps the rain in his thick clouds, and the clouds don't burst with the weight.

True science is not in ___________________ to God's Word.

[Job 36:27-28] He draws up the water vapor and then distills it into rain. [28] The rain pours down from the clouds, and everyone benefits.

[Jeremiah 33:22] And as the stars of the sky cannot be counted and the sand on the seashore cannot be measured, so I will multiply the descendants of my servant David and the Levites who minister before me."

Science is always _______________, but God's Word stays the _______________.

[Isaiah 40:8] The grass withers and the flowers fade, but the word of our God stands forever."

The Bible is more scientifically __________________ than any other ancient document.

[Hebrews 4:12-13] For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. [13] Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes, and he is the one to whom we are accountable.

Only the _______________ has the power to _______________ your life.

  • THE GOOD, THE BAD & THE UGLY: Left-Handed Warrior | Judah Thomas

[Judges 3:12] Once again the Israelites did evil in the LORD's sight, and the LORD gave King Eglon of Moab control over Israel because of their evil.

If we turn our back on God He may allow us to hit ___________-__________________.

[Judges 3:15-17] But when the people of Israel cried out to the LORD for help, the LORD again raised up a rescuer to save them. His name was Ehud son of Gera, a left-handed man of the tribe of Benjamin. The Israelites sent Ehud to deliver their tribute money to King Eglon of Moab. [16] So Ehud made a double-edged dagger that was about a foot long, and he strapped it to his right thigh, keeping it hidden under his clothing. [17] He brought the tribute money to Eglon, who was very fat.

Stop trying to __________________ in when you were created to __________________ out.

[2 Corinthians 12:9] Each time he said, "My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness." So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.

Sometimes God wants to do something __________________ through someone __________________.

[Judges 3:18-23 NIV] After Ehud had presented the tribute, he sent on their way those who had carried it. [19] But on reaching the stone images near Gilgal he himself went back to Eglon and said, "Your Majesty, I have a secret message for you." The king said to his attendants, "Leave us!" And they all left.

[Joshua 4:20-24] It was there at Gilgal that Joshua piled up the twelve stones taken from the Jordan River. [21] Then Joshua said to the Israelites, "In the future your children will ask, 'What do these stones mean?' [22] Then you can tell them, 'This is where the Israelites crossed the Jordan on dry ground.' [23] For the LORD your God dried up the river right before your eyes, and he kept it dry until you were all across, just as he did at the Red Sea when he dried it up until we had all crossed over. [24] He did this so all the nations of the earth might know that the LORD's hand is powerful, and so you might fear the LORD your God forever."

We can find faith for the __________________ by remembering God's faithfulness in the __________________.

[Judges 3:20-23 NIV] Ehud then approached him while he was sitting alone in the upper room of his palace and said, "I have a message from God for you." As the king rose from his seat, [21] Ehud reached with his left hand, drew the sword from his right thigh and plunged it into the king's belly. [22] Even the handle sank in after the blade, and his bowels discharged. Ehud did not pull the sword out, and the fat closed in over it. [23] Then Ehud went out to the porch; he shut the doors of the upper room behind him and locked them.

Other people’s __________________ of your __________________ doesn’t impact how God sees you.

  • THE GOOD, THE BAD & THE UGLY: The Tough Girl | Judah Thomas

[Judges 4:1-3] After Ehud's death, the Israelites again did evil in the LORD's sight. [2] So the LORD turned them over to King Jabin of Hazor, a Canaanite king. The commander of his army was Sisera, who lived in Harosheth-haggoyim. [3] Sisera, who had 900 iron chariots, ruthlessly oppressed the Israelites for twenty years. Then the people of Israel cried out to the LORD for help.

An __________ is anything that clouds our ___________ of God.

God has a _________ ________ in His heart for when you call out to Him.

[Judges 4:4-7] Deborah, the wife of Lappidoth, was a prophet who was judging Israel at that time. [5] She would sit under the Palm of Deborah, between Ramah and Bethel in the hill country of Ephraim, and the Israelites would go to her for judgment. [6] One day she sent for Barak son of Abinoam, who lived in Kedesh in the land of Naphtali. She said to him, "This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, commands you: Call out 10,000 warriors from the tribes of Naphtali and Zebulun at Mount Tabor. [7] And I will call out Sisera, commander of Jabin's army, along with his chariots and warriors, to the Kishon River. There I will give you victory over him."

God is the great _________________ and has made us all _________________ in His eyes.

[Galatians 3:26-28] For you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus. [27] And all who have been united with Christ in baptism have put on Christ, like putting on new clothes. [28] There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male and female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus.

Step out in ____________________ when God calls you to do something!

[Judges 4:8-10] Barak told her, "I will go, but only if you go with me." [9] "Very well," she replied, "I will go with you. But you will receive no honor in this venture, for the LORD's victory over Sisera will be at the hands of a woman." So Deborah went with Barak to Kedesh. [10] At Kedesh, Barak called together the tribes of Zebulun and Naphtali, and 10,000 warriors went up with him. Deborah also went with him.

If God wants to work through someone and they _____________, He will just use someone ___________.

[Judges 4:17-21] Meanwhile, Sisera ran to the tent of Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite, because Heber's family was on friendly terms with King Jabin of Hazor. [18] Jael went out to meet Sisera and said to him, "Come into my tent, sir. Come in. Don't be afraid." So he went into her tent, and she covered him with a blanket. [19] "Please give me some water," he said. "I'm thirsty." So she gave him some milk from a leather bag and covered him again. [20] "Stand at the door of the tent," he told her. "If anybody comes and asks you if there is anyone here, say no." [21] But when Sisera fell asleep from exhaustion, Jael quietly crept up to him with a hammer and tent peg in her hand. Then she drove the tent peg through his temple and into the ground, and so he died.

[Judges 5:24] "Most blessed among women is Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite. May she be blessed above all women who live in tents.

  • THE GOOD, THE BAD & THE UGLY: The Illegitimate Son | Judah Thomas

[Hebrews 11:32-34] How much more do I need to say? It would take too long to recount the stories of the faith of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel, and all the prophets. [33] By faith these people overthrew kingdoms, ruled with justice, and received what God had promised them. They shut the mouths of lions, [34] quenched the flames of fire, and escaped death by the edge of the sword. Their weakness was turned to strength. They became strong in battle and put whole armies to flight.

God is always willing to _________________ those who call on Him for help.

[Judges 10:18] The leaders of Gilead said to each other, "Whoever attacks the Ammonites first will become ruler over all the people of Gilead."

God is looking to use people with godly ________________.

[Judges 11:1-3] Now Jephthah of Gilead was a great warrior. He was the son of Gilead, but his mother was a prostitute. [2] Gilead's wife also had several sons, and when these half brothers grew up, they chased Jephthah off the land. "You will not get any of our father's inheritance," they said, "for you are the son of a prostitute." [3] So Jephthah fled from his brothers and lived in the land of Tob. Soon he had a band of worthless rebels following him.

Your past does not have to ________________ your future!

[Judges 11:4-8] At about this time, the Ammonites began their war against Israel. [5] When the Ammonites attacked, the elders of Gilead sent for Jephthah in the land of Tob. The elders said, [6] "Come and be our commander! Help us fight the Ammonites!" [7] But Jephthah said to them, "Aren't you the ones who hated me and drove me from my father's house? Why do you come to me now when you're in trouble?" [8] "Because we need you," the elders replied. "If you lead us in battle against the Ammonites, we will make you ruler over all the people of Gilead."

Only God can turn rejection into _________________.

[Judges 11:30-32 NIV] And Jephthah made a vow to the LORD: "If you give the Ammonites into my hands, [31] whatever comes out of the door of my house to meet me when I return in triumph from the Ammonites will be the LORD's, and I will sacrifice it as a burnt offering." [32] Then Jephthah went over to fight the Ammonites, and the LORD gave them into his hands.

We need to always choose our _________________ wisely.

_________________ can bring us closer to God.
